A Lifehacker article says sterilising new potting mix is unnecessary unless it’s for seeds… However. Due to energy constraints I’ve planted up a single unsterilised test pot. I chose the cat grass seeds as they seem tougher, cheaper and easier to get than the heirloom seeds.

This potting mix is definitely coarser and lower quality than when I did the spinach over lockdown. Seems to be a few little pieces of mulch in there. (For the baby spinach I got a good quality tomato and vegetable mix, sterilised it, mixed in slow release fertiliser and put a thin layer of special seed starter mix on top for them to germinate in.) It also warns about microorganisms. But it does have plant food that wouldn’t be ruined because I didn’t use heat. I guess this will tell me just how precious I have to be.

If anything happens with damping off or mould I’ll sterilise everything and do the extra steps for the other plants.

I wish I had more physical reserves, more space, and didn’t have to worry about moving. (Or the cat absconding.) I’d love to have a catio and a vegie patch

Edit: Melbcat keeps not eating her wet food :(

I've been re-watching next gen for the third time and I can't see how people say the first season is inconsistent. It's great. Okay the black oil blob person thing was a bit silly, but the tribute to Natasha at the end was quite sweet. Cooking chicken drumsticks in the air fryer tonight, random seasoning. Hope it goes ok. They were $3.60 for a kilo, seemed legit.

Timed my grocery run well - got back just as the rain started. Light rain, but still.
Will relax a bit more then start on more of Operation Sort Shit. Probably the back room as it's at the can't-walk-through-it stage.

So I picked up another clearance item today and it’s a creamy pasta salad with parma cheese and chorizo.

I’m not sure if I’m supposed to just dump all the cheese and chorizo on top or if I should toss it into the microwave just enough to melt the cheese.

Makes me think I should have picked up a head of cauliflower for 2 bucks instead. At least I know what to expect and it’s delicious.

Hi brains trust, can anyone recommend a place (preferably close-ish to Docklands) for a roast meat lunch on a Saturday? I promise I’ve Googled and I’m having trouble finding anywhere.
