Is washing powder safe for undearmour clothing? Else what would be some alternatives?

I tried the vinegar approach but it wasn't working out for me. I guess maybe I can try the baking soda one

I use Atsko Sport-Wash, it’s residue free, and used to be a reasonable price (especially when compared with some tech wash options).

If you use the same washing powder for your other clothes then it's probably safe for your athletic clothes as well.

I don't see why washing powder would not be okay for synthetic fibres. The only possible issue I can think of is using washing powder for white textiles, which contains bleaching agents and other substances that would fade colors.
