Thank you so much for all your feedback to my post about #Fediverse content aggregators (Mbin, PieFed and Lemmy) and interoperability.

Following some of your testimonies, I'm semi-tempted to create new accounts on #Friendica and #Lemmy – on other instances – to do more interoperability tests, considering that some of the problems I may have encountered could be instance-specific (with nothing to do with software). Is this something that may interest you?

@_[email protected] Your articles are very interesting, the fediverse is only at the beginning of its spread and in the near future it will see more and more audiences, so discovering all its possibilities is always a good thing.
The problem is that there is also a need for a radical way of thinking about social networks, because at present instances of the current fediverse seem to replicate the functionality of main stream social.

@_elena You said that informapirata said that friendica and lemmy worked great together? Do you know what their instances are? I want to know what's different. Also do you know what version of friendica you are using? Interoperability is the point of friendica and they may just be behind or your version is behind. The latest version is 2024.03, though 2024.06RC is out and has been in the debug mode limbo for several months now. Its got a lot of cool news features i can't wait to go full and get my instance updated to. A big one will be sorting your contacts easier into circles

@anubis2814
Hi Anubi! My instances are poliverso.org and feddit.it

Poliverso.org is an Italian instance (but considering that you are one of the most active users of Friendica, if you want to sign up, you are still welcome); in August it has become the Friendica instance with the most active users. It runs version 2024.03 and will remain on this version for a few weeks, since with our db it will take a whole day to migrate to the latest release.

Feddit.it is also an instance dedicated to an Italian audience and registrations are filtered to ensure that users are truly Italian. It runs version 0.19.5, which unfortunately could cause us to have big compatibility problems with the latest new version of Mastodon 🤬

We have a lot of Friendica and Mastodon users who use it to participate in discussions and even to open new Threads.

@informapirata @_elena Good to know, ive never been much of a reddit user, but ill keep that in mind if i try lemmy. I wonder what her instances version is. If it's the same as ours i will want to know what is different in the setup.
Im running the dev version on mine in a sandbox i have under the name flocktogether.social where i hope to build a toolkit for sustainable community. Think meetup/okcupid but with a lot of community building info from cohousing and anarchist communities. If you have php skills and are interested in helping hit me up. Im 100% self taught(past classes in basic, c++ and java). Until i get it 70-80% complete i don't feel like i can try to bring in some of the other folks that might be interested in helping

@[email protected] @[email protected] I found the info re: my current Friendica instance.

"This is Friendica, version 2024.08 that is running at the web location https://friendica.opensocial.space. The database version is 1571/1571, the post update version is 1550/1550."
