Hoping to document the phenomenon, photographer Constanze Han spent a month in 2022 driving down the highway connecting the island’s capital, Taipei, to the southern city of Kaohsiung, meeting betel nut beauties along the way.

I'm visiting Taiwan right now. They basically don't exist anymore. Most of the sellers are older, middle aged and above, and dressed modestly. The fact she could only find a few to photograph says it all. Their time is over.
