I'm reading an old travel book about Arabia and Abyssinia starting in the 1930s and continuing post war. 😕 As per usual women and children are invisible.

And it's more brutal than I imagined and i've read Speke, Bruce and Burton and they generally didn't tone it down. TE Lawrence did allude to some brutality.
