Nowadays, there's so many non-alcoholic beers in Denmark and I'm curious..

Is it popular here? Do you prefer it to regular beer? It is looked down upon socially?

I'd like to know who are the main consumers of it, I guess younger people..

I like it before workout sessions, or hanging out on sunny weekdays, where I'll have maybe 1-2 regular beers before switching to non-alcoholic so I can still get up early the next morning without feeling like a mess

Beer before a workout? Damn. Man must be cutting when he chooses non-alcoholic, and bulking when he chooses alcoholic

Most people drink normal beer, but it's not unusual for people to go for the non-alcoholic beers if you're in a group of friends and you know you're driving home, but still want to be social with your friends.

I tend to drink non alcoholic beer, when im around the house or in a home setting.

With company or when out, i'll usually drink regular beer.

We always have non-alcohol beer in the house. Mostly for a hot summer day when working in the garden. I don't like getting drunk on normal days. Also I can go to a party at the office or a concert and have a couple of bees, before driving home. Even at new years evening I had a few just to prevent getting too drunk. I just love that it is possible to choose between so many nowadays. But we are also getting old (55) and have no need to get drunk (very often) 😂

I drink one every now and then. It’s nice to have the option to drink beer without the drawbacks of alcohol. To me it’s not much different (in spirit) to drinking a sugarfree soda. The taste is not as good as the real thing, but it’s close enough to be worth it for me. I find that the one’s that are not completely alcohol free (some are like 0.5) are more likely to taste better. Quality has improved noticably over the past 4-8 years. Is it looked down upon? Yes, in many settings you can expect someone make a ‘funny remark’ about your choice. If it’s enormously important what others think of you, just drink a glass of water.

We have a lot of drinking culture.

It's nice to be able to mown the lawn without being too drunk to steer the lawn mower. Or cut the hegde straight all the way around so you really can show the neighbors who the best gartner are.

Haven't tried a non-alcoholic beer yet that actually tasted like a beer. Can't recommend

They are fastly getting more popular at the moment. Main reason is likely that now there exist non alcoholic beer that taste like good beer.

I quite like them because it means I can have a beer for lunch without getting drowsy. They go well with food and are thirst quenching without being sweet.

My impression is they are mostly popular with older people who drink for the taste, while young people tend to drink to get drunk.

Can confirm. I'm an old geezer and I get sleepy when I drink ordinary beer.

Hehe. Yes and no I think. It’s clearly more than difficult to get the same full taste and mouth feel as in regular beer. Often I think of it as a soda water that’s not sweet. But for example some 0% IPA from a good micro brewery is IMO often simply a very good beer

Though alcohol in itself is off course also part of the pleasure with beer.

We drink a lot in this country. Beer is a social norm. For everybody to feel included there was a need for alternatives.

I started drinking them when I was nursing my child. Now I do because I’m pregnant again, and I just really like the taste of beer

To my knowledge it's not popular, but you shouldn't concern yourself with the opinions of others like that. Drink them if you like them.

In my experience the main consumers are older people who tolerate alcohol less and less well, and of course people who have to drive a car or ride a bike.

Not looked down on in my age bracket.   I mostly see people drinking it when they want to have a beer, but still be able to drive.   I personally don't drink it, because I don't really see the need to and I've never known anyone who prefer it over regular beer.

I think nowadays most bars are required to have some form on non alcoholic beer available.

I have some experience working in one, and it wasn't all that uncommon for people to order them. They're absolutely in the minority compared to regular beer of course, but it's not super rare.

I prefer non-alcoholic beers. I generelly find them more refreshing and less bitter than regular beers.

There is a lot of different options in the market but it doesn't seem to stop expanding. I don't think anybody would care if you are drinking non-alcoholic over regular beer.

I like it when I’m out, fx at a nightclub in between alcoholic drinks or in the hours before going home. I don’t like being too drunk anymore/like being sober while I’m out. I enjoy music and being out for many hours and I’m just not a fan of soda, it’s too sweet. I also like it on weekdays if meeting with friends or going to a concert, and I also really like to be able to drink non-alcoholic beverages at christmas and Easter lunches, since danes go insane and likes to get suuuuper drunk.

And since I am pregnant now it’s super nice to still be able to drink beer with friends and at cultural events. I’ve noticed that some people still look at me with a wierd condescending face if I go around with a beer at a concert fx with my big belly, but I guess it’s because they can’t see that it’s alcohol free.

I’m thankful that they are a thing. My mom is on dementia medication that interacts badly with alcohol and would have been miserable if all she could have was Faxe Kondi and Fun Light. She misses wine badly, but at least with these she can still have an adult drink.

I do believe ive seen non alcoholic wine and diff spirits like gin and whisky with close to 0% alcohol in Meny stores.

"Just 0" makes decent alcohol free red and white wine! The white is pretty sweet but the red is the best alcohol free red wine I've tasted (I tasted many when I was pregnant and most suuucked).

ETA: found it in Meny.

We avoid drinking and driving so this is a good solution when at a social gathering and still being able to enjoy a cold one.

I think ive hear last summer that up to 20% of beers sold is non alkoholic. So its deffenently social acceptable.

Who drinks it? In my experience its ppl who like the taste of beer but dont want to get tipsy/drunk. Persobaly i drink it when there is a social event i want to attend but not get tipsy for various reasons or plan on drivning home. If i want one beer for like a dinner or ryebread lunch i preffer an alkoholic beer, because it have a bigger selection of different types and tastes.

I've had a turbulent relationship with alcohol and I'm super stoked non alcoholic beer is so common here. It's gotten pretty good and is much less frowned upon socially now. I do like an alcoholic beer sometimes but prefer the non alcoholic most of the time. It's great :))

I'll never prefer it to regular beer. But I will prefer it over soda in a context where drinking a beer with alcohol would be problematic.

I am very happy to try new non-alcoholic or low alcohol beers whenever possible.

I very much enjoy beer. Over the past 8 years I've checked in more than 2.000 different beers on Untappd. It's my prefered alcohol because flavour is so varied and you can have it in many different settings and its available in non-alcoholic versions that actually taste good.

We’re trying to get pregnant so I only drink non alcoholic beers now. We haven’t told anyone but people don’t even mention it at parties because it is so common now.
