Thanks for the great app!

I’m finding the navigation a bit harder than I’m used to from Reddit and wondering if we could get a couple features added (possibly as options if they’re not universally valuable.)

  • A list of joined communities to quickly go to them
  • An indication of the server a community is on (I’m sometimes in multiple communities with the same name on different servers.)

If these features already exist could someone please point out how to use them? If these seem like reasonable things to add but you don’t have time and are open to PRs I may try adding them but I’m a Swift noob and haven’t used it for years. 😅

Thanks again!

Definitely second explicitly stating the “fully qualified” !community@instance for instances not in your home instance. Similarly, include the instance name when viewing the sidebar or other user’s profile for remote instances.

I would also very much like to see a share option added in posts and comments, with possible options to Copy Link and to Open in Safari. This could be available via an explicit share button, in an ellipsis/more menu, or via long press on a post or comment.

Swipe gestures would be awesome too.

And a compact post view.

swiping to vote/reply is my favorite feature from Apollo!

mlem does have partial swipe gesture support already. If you have a community favorited you can swipe it to the left to remove it from favorites, so hopefully gestures can be added elsewhere

A pretty big one for me would be the option to truncate the posts shown on the feed. At the moment post with lots of code or those with tall images can cause some problems.

Amazing work so far though!

You should keep an eye on this issue then 😊 https://github.com/buresdv/Mlem/issues/38

A way to search for communities and to subscribe to them. Or I am overseeing the option for this in the app. At the moment I search and subscribe to communities from my web browser. But it’s a great start, thanks makers of Mlem.

When you are on the page where you swap between“subscribed” or “all” you can tap on the top and it will change to say “community”. That’s actually a search box and you can type a community name to search.

I'd like the ability to hide all vote scores

I have this configured on the website, so perhaps the app can load the same settings on mobile?

I know Mlem isn’t 1.0 yet, but here are a few things I’ve noticed

  1. Subscriptions: I did all my subscriptions from a browser. If there’s a list of communities in Mlem, I didn’t see it, and it would help.

  2. Tablet layout: I tried the app on my iPad, and it’s iPhone form factor. If I have the choice between a tablet and a phone for this kind of community, I think a tablet fits the content better

  3. Home page: my home page starts on my accounts. I’d rather start on “all communities” until there is enough content to swap to subscriptions.

I haven't seen a way to hide things I've already seen/read.

Is that going to be possible in the future?

Is it already possible, and I just haven't figured out out?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

@Zealotte @mlemapp It’s not implemented yet, but you should follow this issue for more information: https://github.com/buresdv/Mlem/issues/55
