I get 2-3 calls every day from random companies trying to sell me insurance or other shit. Was wondering how the hell did they even get my number, and if there's any way to have it removed from their databases.

Tell them you are very interested then put them on "hold" and play some 10 hour battlefield theme for them. Time is money so if you waste their time they will never call again.

I’ve answered my phone while crying once. I was expecting a different caller, and the +4520 start to the number seemed legit. Someone trying to make me change electricity provider, not super sure about the company, “gul” something. He hang up exactly 3 minutes and 37 seconds in, and they have never called me again since. It must have been effective at scaring them off, I guess.

Gul strøm? Then you probably gave consent through some conest on Facebook or something like that. I've worked for them. We'd often call people who said they were on Robinson listen, but that doesnt help, if you gave consent somehow.

Could be! And I for sure hadn’t shared the number they called. I am the kind of person weird enough to have a cheap old extra phone, specifically so I can use that number instead of my real one whenever I sign up for almost anything.

I assumed they have a random generator of some kind, because my number is protected, and I have still gotten various spam calls over the years, ranging from salesmen, charities and surveys, despite being very paranoid about who gets my number. Even the car dealership for my last car didn’t get my real phone number.

I dont think they're generated, as im sure we'd end up in "dead ends" often, which we didnt. Im not sure how it works exactly with hidden numbers. If its only private people who cant find them or what it is.

I personally do not.

Some site, where you saved your phone number, leaked. Either intentional or unintentional.

There is no way to remove your number from their databases (technically, of course there is, but practically, no). It has probably already been shared around multiple scammers.

Edit: I thought you were talking about scammers. If it is legitimate business, you can get on the Robinson list. Or you can try to ask them if they could not call you again. It might work.

You can sign up to Robinsonlisten. It's a list that forbids companies (by law) from contacting you for advertising purposes.

Unless they give consent through something like a Facebook contest

Well that's a given if you read the terms of Robinsonlisten.

start saying "no thanks, please delete my number" (they legally have to), and after a while you'll only be getting 1-2 of those calls per year

edit: assuming that they're legitimate companies and not just scammers, of course. good luck otherwise

Yeah occasionally.

This other day I got a call and answered the call with a stern "fuck off" and hung up immediately. The fucking girl working there had the audacity to call me up again and try to discipline me 💀

You can kindly ask them to take your number off the call list. I don't know if it helps.

When I realize who’s calling I just end the call without saying anything and block the number.

I usually intimidate them by criticising their skills as salespersons to the point where they feel so uncomfortable that they willingly forfeit.

Your approach is aggressively mediocre. It’s hard to believe you will sell anything today.

Sign up with Lebara Mobile. Then all you’ll get is one SMS every 3-4 weeks about something on offer that is probably coke.

thankfully not.

if its bad you can try use Truecaller for a bit (App that should detect who calls you and automatically block known spammers and unknown numbers)

I get like spurts of a week of 2-3 foreign calls a day every few months. Googling the numbers seems to lead to various scams. Guess my number got leaked in a data breach or something and they try until they realize i’m not a potential victim and then give up and sell the number to the next scammer.

I can count on one hand the amount of spam calls I've received ever. Don't give your number to stupid shit.
