I feel like at this point we're beyond the spirit of the rule.

I like var, never been of an opinion that it's not needed. But i also liked the unwritten "pro-attacking" rule in situations when two players are on one line and no clear body part is ahead of the line, in that case it was onside. And i get it with var it's impossible to draw that arbitrary line, but these millimeters being so scrutinized while the team worked for that goal is frustrating
Wish the new rigor around offsides, I believe the rule should be the opposite, any player in line with the defender is onside. It's tough seeing goals pulled back because of extremities being a centimetre offside
Reason #828574 why the offside rule needs to evolve
Maybe it’s time for Wenger’s new offside rule.
Why does the premier league not have this?
Upper arm amputees will now make great footballers
Just can’t do throw ins
I’ve got it! Strikers just need to Naruto run and the problem’s solved.
Ouch. I hate to say it but this is getting to be too much. Technically, if that software is correct, it’s offsides. But I’ve gotten to the point where I think there needs to be a new rule. I mean, do we really want every time theres a goal to have to pause for 5 minutes to be sure it’s in. It’s just gone too far.
Change the offsides rules. I wouldn’t mind Wenger’s option. Though I’m open to new ideas. And make some rulings unreviewable and just go with it. No sport has refs where they are 100% correct. There’s a point where it subtracts from the excitement of the game, and that was 5 years ago.
Im ok with missed calls here and there but it’s enough already. Take a stance, stop aiming for perfectionism, and just be real. Also, would be a fan of incorporating the rugby style sin bin. No reason for teams to be crowded around the ref complaining for calls. That would put an end to it real quick
Now we need another Nintendo 64 graphic of the exact moment the ball was kicked so we can know if we’re putting intense scrutiny on the correct millisecond of gameplay
How would the sport be if offside only happened if no part of the offensive player overlapped with a defensive player? Meaning the whole of the offensive player had to be offside? Thoughts?
We’ve gone too far
I'm a Utd fan and this is a ridiculous decision. What advantage is the attacker getting here?
The offside rule needs to be changed to favour attackers instead of punishing them.
At the end of the day we all to see more goals ont less.
VAR is so incredibly lame. Can't believe people actually lobbied for the idea that "football isn't enough like a jury trial" and it was a popular suggestion
This isn't football. It's something else.
Shame we dont have the same accuracy for when a ball has left the foot.
When it comes to offsides I see so much discourse around where the line is drawn and what part of the players body is ahead of it. But I find it funny to see 0 discourse on when the frame is frozen, ie when did the passer release the ball. Freezing the frame a few milliseconds early or late could be the difference between no offside and offside, and the marginal calls exist there as well.
