Google will always say "bah humbug" and move on as though nothing happened.
Hardware
A place for quality hardware news, reviews, and intelligent discussion.
I got a Pixel 8 Pro, luckely no bumps on it but it would have been sendt back instantly if it had any.
For the price i gave for it i expect there to be NOTHING wrong with it from the start!
"You're holding it wrong."
And that is why I sold my Pixel Fold. Jesus Christ Google.
I'm glad I decided to stick with Motorola and not try pixel devices...why so many quality issues? Samsung doesn't have stuff like this. Neither does Motorola, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Sony, etc...
Basing quality issues on headlines is not ideal. Samsung and those others have other quality issues as well that Google doesn't. Lemons exist, but it would be wise for Google and others to acknowledge them and resolve it.
"It's not a bug, it's a feature!"
You're looking at it wrong.
"This is still an upgrade compared to the P6, you people should be grateful"
"Stop being so negative, at least it's not a curved display"
"They'll fix this with software"
They're not even in Apple's position yet but they're already acting like Apple.
Pixelbros are the tankies of the Android hw community
Google can do no wrong. Just like their modems used in Pixel 6 and 7 series that caused major signal issues for many.
That phone (P6P) is the reason I changed to iPhone after over a decade of faithful Android use
The bumps appear to be coming from the little metal tensioning tabs pressing against the back of the screen through the copper heat transfer tape a little too hard.

iPhone 15 has these tabs but only on the reinforced edges of the frame and Samsung doesn't use them at all for Galaxy S series
Bizarre design choice from Google to have the tabs press directly into the back of the screen...
bizarre hardware choice from Google? say it ain't so
I feel like something like this happens with every generation of Pixels
Does this effect all models? I just got my 8. This would explain the issues some people were having with screen protectors.
Google Pixel not being a dumpster fire of a smartphone challenge: impossible
“Folks, it’s a feature.” -some Google employee maybe-
only on 8, not on 8 Pro? About to grab one 8 Pro
Another generation of Pixel, another hardware issue...
lmao I had the Nexus 6P, best phone ever IMO, but thing died about a year after I got it from some CPU bug. Been dying to get a pixel ever since, but every one has had serious hardware issues, it's really sad.
Eh, I own the 6a- first pixel I've ever owned and it's far and away the best phone I've ever owned. The software and user experience is so much better than apple and Samsung. I'm sold on the brand. Not sure if I'll upgrade to the 8 or wait for the 9 so I can get a smaller pro.
I bought the pixel8 on pre order and see no issues whatsoever. I don’t use it daily as I mostly use my iPhone. But I’ve used it quite a lot still.
That is absolutely horrible QC.
Correction: "Not OUR Problem"
They already have your money. From what I've heard about statistics, most people don't return defect products.
Consumer law is a thing
And it will be cheaper for them to say it's not a problem than it is to recall.
