Give competitors' recommendations only where appropriate. If a user asks for Intel only (i.e. i5-12600k vs i5-13400?) recommendations, do not reply with non-Intel recommendations. Commenting on a build pic saying they should have gone AMD/Nvidia is also inappropriate, don't be rude. Let people enjoy things.

CPU Cooling problems: Just like 95C is normal for Ryzen, 100C is normal for Intel CPUs in many workloads. If you're worried about CPU temperatures, please look at reviews for the laptop or CPU cooler you're using.
I've been sticking with 3rd gen processors for a long time, hopefully I'll get a huge upgrade in 2024
We run a i7 6700/ 1050 4GB and a i3-6100/RTX 570 4GB. I just got a 7700k in the mail to replace the i3. I’m planning on getting a 15th Gen i3 and upgrading to the i9 five or so years later. We mostly play 7D2D, Civ VI, and Icarus.
Well if I were on the 10th or 11th gen I would definitely be skipping 1700 completely since I only upgrade every 8 years or so. However since I was previously on the 4th gen, and it was about 8 years later I opted for a 13th gen.
Currently on a z170 with a 7700k delided and OC'd with a 2080. Would like to upgrade maybe in 3-5 years depending if the products are worth it.
9900k and 3090 too , I play at 1440p 140fps every games I like (mostly mmo and arpgs). I also do 3D animation but that's enough for what I'm doing :)
me
I am more than happy on my non-K i7-8700 with an RTX3070. I am not sure what worthy games I am missing, playing in 1440p. Before that I had an overclocked i5-2500K , 2011-early 2018, and it only started to show age because it wasn't equipped with hyper threading. I think people vastly overestimate the importance of CPUs in gaming.
I am on i5 2300(2nd gen) still skipping everything while my cpu last :)
I am typing this post on my 2500K, and that is still my "fastest" desktop PC. :o
I went from a 4690K to a 10600K. I'll be waiting for a similar jump in time.
I also was on a GTX 970 and I'm still on a GTX 1070. As soon as there's a date for GTA 6, I'll be doing a whole system update ready for then.
Still got my 4790k with a GTX 1660 which Im using as a NAS server and my 7700k with a 2070 which I gave to my daughter for her schooling. Went to 12900K last year and 4070Ti this February 2023. 4080 and 4090's price is way off the chart for me. 😅
Yeah, me. I'm on a 10500 and is planning to go to a 7800x3d/15700/AMD's new 8000 series cpus. Depends which one gives the best bang for the buck. This 10500 has served me well, and can give a solid 140fps on 1080p.
I had 10700, 10850 and then 12600 and 12600 was much much better than even 10850, it noticeable even in windows.
Obviously yes. Heck, this subreddit still sees a lot of people on 4th-8th gen asking for upgrade advice.
I'm still on the 9900k and waiting for 15 gen
On a 11700k. Got a decent deal on a 7800x3d so i am upgrading. Not super happy about the 11th gen performance
I'm using a I-9900K with 24 gigs of RAM which is running a donated gtx1070 because I had my two 1080p eyes thrown out the window with the rest of my PC when my last landlord broke into my unit while I was out and through all my stuff out the window the day after I paid him rent. The police weren't able to prove that he did it although he suffered from PTSD as a ex veteran. I don't even know how I would feel about charging him with it anyways. It runs at works and I'll be upgrading my system soon. The kicker to the story is that I had just replaced my previously stolen i7 8700k paired with two GTX 980 TI golden editions. I spent a couple thousand dollars on computer parts that were either stolen or destroyed by others. I don't know if I can justify spending another three to five grand on another rig just so I can play the latest update of Minecraft. 😅
9900k over here,... still happy.
Yep, still a 9900k here, paired with a 3090 like yours and having similar results. Easy 1440 at 100+ fps in pretty much everything. My index pulls 100+ fps for me in iRacing, no need to upgrade at this point.
I didn't. I though I would but presented with an irresistible deal, I couldn't pass it up lol
I was on Westmere with an X5670. So, I skipped Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, Haswell, Broadwell, Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake, and Rocket Lake. I now have a i9 12900k.
I am on 10850k and 4080… looking to get 7800x3d, but could wait until next gen arrives… then buy 7800x3d, skip that gen, then buy the next one.
Yeah, 1440p 165fps with a 4070ti.
i9-9900K 5.1/4.8 + super tuned 32gb 4266c16 33ns latency. Will slap 99% of base zen3 setups in games and overall snappiness. Good enough for years to come.
Yeah I did skip some gens, got a 3rd gen i5 3570k geezer that has been holding back my 3060ti for 3y already, had a 660ti before that... well cant complain much as I play mostly story driven games and some non competitive fps and hes been holding his ground at 1080p 60fps even in stalkers gamma modpack.
