It is surprising that a player rated as highly as Scholes never made the Fifa World XI, UEFA World XI or even won the UTD player of the year. If he was so good why wasnt it reflected in anything individual? The quality of players of his archetype such as Pirlo and Xabi Alonso are reflected by numerous XI’s and players of the year in contrast. Gerrard and Lampard have both made the FIFA World XI in their pomp and finished top 3 in Ballon Dor voting. Conversely, Scholes is the players with the most nominations without receiving a single vote.
