so, I reached the point where I should start searching for my thesis for my master's degree in networking,

am currently an intern at a major company in my country and am learning and searching for a thesis idea.

so far am interested in SDN and SD-Wan or probably something regarding 5G cores, I've looked into VOIP and implementing it with an open-source solution, but they told me it's a repeated subject.

am all over the place to be honest, I think SDN alongside some NVF's with a sparkle of containers would be an interesting topic, what do you think?

I would appreciate all suggestions since I have plenty of time to learn new things,

This, and their other CC books, is a great starting place. Especially because it has a hands-on section you can build upon:

Maybe take a larger forest view of convergence & orchestration of a provides core.. from access to fabric.

Other than that, lots is being said about the true meaning of network source of truth. Check some NANOG talks for free on their YouTube channel. Check out Jeremy Stretch's fairly recent blog post on Netbox (packetlife.net).

If you're looking for more greybeard Inspiration, check out some great analysis from Geoff Huston on potaroo.net and think of interesting software defined ways to demonstrate his analysis (maybe become the next Kentik etc.)

Russ White & Ivan Pepnelnjak are also great grey beard thinkers.

I honestly never heard of most of these good people you mentioned so am going to start digging for information
