I joined this morning to get a little ahead of the curve.

There zero reason this place couldn't replace Reddit entirely if people just give it a chance.

I really hope people don't just drop it once the blackouts end.

I'm a fairly active and experienced ~~shitposter~~ content creator on Reddit who will fully shift towards sole posting here (well, at Lemmy in general, across different "branches") if things don't improve there. Which, sad to say, looks increasingly unlikely.

It probably won't get as many upvotes, but that's fine. Artists continue drawing even if their works don't get much public appreciation, simply because they enjoy creating, and other creatives (e.g. meme-makers) like me are no different - upboats and engagement in the comments are nice, but most of the joy comes from seeing the final product just as one envisioned it in their mind. Of course, if it brings others joy, that's a bonus.

Get enough of these people migrating over, and you have a small critical mass that will create sufficient content for lurkers to look and go "Hey, that's something I wanna be part of." Then "not being on there/in the know" becomes stranger than "being on there", and... the Lemmy servers will probably buckle under the influx. Heh.

They might cut off one of their ears though.
