Observations. I expect to be downvoted to hell because dear lord there are a lot of you Spurs fans on here.
VAR on Ayew's goal wasn't a clear and obvious error on the ref's behalf, hence not being called to the monitor. Surely we all know this now, right?
First half, I think that Palace made Spurs look average. The possession stats vs every other stat were bonkers. We missed the chance to take advantage and, of course, contrived to fuck it up for ourselves.
Once that first goal went in, it enabled Spurs to invite the high press which resulted (alongside a 'keeper brain fart) in the inevitable second. After that, the result was in the book, despite the additional intensity at the end.
Van der Ven is fucking rapid and is a genuine game changer for Spurs - top drawer defender.
For us, we're playing with what we can right now. Targeting Ward down the right remains an obvious play for opposition teams because he doesn't have Ayew doing the dirty work in front of him.
First half, a point would have been deserved. Second half, Spurs were very clever after they took the lead and, as much as I hate to say it, deserved the win.
Thank goodness we have some class to come back in to the side in the near future.
Is there a link to the VAR? I was watching the game live and the replay was not clear at all to me, but I wouldn't mind examining it again.
