Does it matter which lemmy server I join?

and if yes, what are some trusted and good servers?

What the other guy said, except fundamentally no.

It doesn't matter, as long as it's not beehaw, Lemmy.ml or sh.itjust.works (because beehaw defederated the last 2). Lemmygrad.ml is also defederated in a lot of places but nobody is recommending you go there.

Every other instance under the sun (including yours, if you host it!) And every kbin instance are federated with most other instances, which means you are free to browse the fediverse as if it was one big reddit.

Great thing to receive the news that the instance i registered on just some days ago is a non-recomended one -_-

You're just missing out on beehaw. You can go take a look if you want, they do have good content over there, but only the admins can create communities so it's a bit wierder. Sh.itjust.works is also in talks to regenerate with beehaw when moderation tools have matured more. Ultimately it doesn't really matter but I prefer to recommend instances where you will get every post in case the newcomer happens to join an instance defederated from the one their friend is on.
