TIL (from a reddit post) that you can get a very cheap domain name as long as it only consists of numbers and use TLD xyz
The problem is that these "exotic" TLDs often do a bait and switch. They lure people in with cheap prices and once they have enough registered domains they drastically increase the annual renewal fee, often times to over $100 per year
I see so that's why they don't offer more than 1yr period for registration
