I'm not sure if others listen to his podcast, but I find it quite interesting. It offers an insightful dive into how different couples manage their finances, and more.

I'll admit I kind of like his Rich Life concept, although I personally don't think I'm at a point I can really apply it. His conscious spending plan, though overly simplistic in my view, serves as a good introduction to proper budgeting. It's likely sufficient for many who prefer not to invest too much time in detailed budget management. This approach also helps in understanding why one might feel financially constrained (my wife and I used his system to analyze our spending and realized we have very high fixed costs which probably explains why we often feel financially tight).

He also interviews Canadians occasionally, which was the case in today's episode. However, most numbers are converted to USD for the discussion.

Are there other listeners in the community?

Since to my knowledge, WS trade doesn't allow Norbert's gambit and has a 1.5% forex fee, then does that leave Questrade as my best option to convert $USD to $CAD? I'd only use that account to exchange and then withdraw.

I have shares in Computershare that are no longer restricted (I can sell), however they are listed as 423b Subject to disqualification. If I sell them before waiting the full 2 years for the $USD shares to be qualified, do they get taxed as regular income instead of capital gains? Planning to convert to $CAD to invest after selling.

Hello everyone,

I've noticed that participation in our daily posts has been declining lately. This makes me wonder if these posts are still meeting your expectations and interests.

Do you think I should continue posting daily? Do they add value to our community?

Please feel free to share your ideas, suggestions, and opinions. If you have any other proposals for improving our community, I'm all ears.

EDIT : Following the first comments, it seems we're going to move to a weekly discussion thread, probably on Friday or Monday. Thank you all for commenting and don't hesitate to chime in if you have any other idea or opinion.

To maximize your 2023 tax savings with an FHSA, remember to make your contributions before December 31st. Unlike RRSPs, there's no option to carry over the first 60 days of 2024 contributions.

Additionally, if you're planning to contribute but lack the funds this year, consider opening an account and depositing a nominal amount, like $100. This strategic move will increase your carry forward room for next year to $7,900, which can be added to your regular $8,000 contribution limit, granting you a total of $15,900 available for contributions. Failing to do this could limit your next year's maximum contribution to just $8,000. Don't miss out on these opportunities!
