Hello there!

I'm testing the Android and iOS versions of my app, and wanted to see if some members of the community might have some time to try my app out and give me some fresh perspective.

A general overview of the app is at https://pafera.com/blog/3l4ig8/2024/01/20/thenewwaytoeasilysharefilesfromaniphone.en.html

And the source repository is at https://codeberg.org/pafera/paferafileserverbrowser

Please contact me with your email address if you're willing to become a tester.

Thank you for your time, and best wishes for a wonderful day!

From the About Magic Lantern page

Magic Lantern is a software enhancement that offers increased functionality to the excellent Canon DSLR cameras. We have created an open framework, licensed under GPL, for developing extensions to the official firmware.

Magic Lantern is not a "hack", or a modified firmware, it is an independent program that runs alongside Canon's own software. Each time you start your camera, Magic Lantern is loaded from your memory card. Our only modification was to enable the ability to run software from the memory card.

Originally created by Trammell Hudson, Magic Lantern played a role in turning consumer digital cameras into tools suitable for high quality digital filmmaking and is now being developed by photo and video enthusiasts, adding functionality such as: HDR images and video, timelapse, motion detection, focus assist tools, manual audio controls much more.

For information about CHDK and what it can do with compact cameras I'd recommend checking out the FAQ. The about section says

CHDK enhances the capabilities of your camera in a non-destructive, non-permanent way.

but goes on to link to the feature list

  • RAW - CHDK can record raw files, giving you access to every bit of data the sensor saw, without compression or processing. Raw files can be manipulated on the camera, or processed on your PC. CHDK supports the open DNG raw standard. Override Camera parameters - Exposures from 2048s to 1/60,000s with flash sync. Full manual or priority control over exposure, aperture, ISO and focus.
  • Bracketing - Bracketing is supported for exposure, aperture, ISO, and even focus.
  • Video Overrides - Control the quality or bitrate of video, or change it on the fly. Extended video clip length - 1 hour or 2GB.
  • Scripting - Control CHDK and camera features using uBASIC and Lua scripts. Enables time lapse, motion detection, advanced bracketing, and much more. Many user-written scripts are available on the forum and wiki.
  • Motion detection - Trigger exposure in response to motion, fast enough to catch lightning. Edge overlay - Detect the edges in a scene, and display them later. Ideal for timelapses, stop-motion, stereography and much more.
  • Live Histogram - CHDK includes a customizable, live histogram display, like those typically found on more expensive cameras. (RGB, blended, luminance and for each RGB channel)
  • Zebra-Mode - Displays under and overexposure areas live on the screen.
  • GRIDS - Create custom grids and display whichever one suits your shooting conditions.
  • Multi-Lingual Interface - CHDK supports about 22 languages, and adding more languages is simple.
  • DOF Calculator - Display detailed DOF information on the screen.
  • Customizable OSD - Improved display of battery status, free space, camera parameters, and much more. Fully customizable with an on-screen editor.
  • Filebrowser - Manage files without a PC.
  • Textreader - Display text files on your camera.
  • Games - Play Reversi, Sokoban, Mastermind, 4-in-a-Row, Tetris, * Snake or Sudoku on your camera.
  • Calendar
  • USB Remote - Simple DIY remote allows you to trigger exposures or scripts.
  • PTP Extension - Remote control and display from a PC
  • Benchmark - Compare the performance of your SD cards.
  • User Menu - Edit your own customizable User-Menu for fast access to often used features.
  • Battery Indicator - Always on
  • Ability to control dark frame subtraction

Older Canon DSLRs may be able to use 350D hack and the 400plus project.

https://www.odoo.com/

Just got this recommended to me by a friend, seems like a really great platform for smaller businesses. Has anyone heard of them before, or tried them out?

MercuryAlloy automates the build process for the Mercury browser.

I really like the Mercury browser, but I worried about the browser getting out of date, since releases of the browser seem to be build and released manually. So I threw together a set of scripts and overrides that will allow the build process to run without user interaction and on a schedule. You can modify the subscripts to move your compiled executable anywhere you want (like a web server), as well as send a custom alert upon successful build (like sending the link out via email).

This is a more technical project, but it has been a fun learning experience.

This is the best and when i say the best i mean the best file manager you can have on android . Like it has everything a good file manager should have and is really stable . I don't think i have ever been more impressed by a piece of software or promoted it as much as i do this . All i am saying is it is the peak for android it has various compression/extract options built in can work with root , have a text editor . Etc. Etc . No file manager i have used ever has even came close .

**>- If any app ( regardless of the platform they are in ) you know of that is fully FOSS and doesn't have any ads , tracking or any other anti features that didn't make the list it is a mistake and you can dm me and i will add it. The same goes for apps that are not really FOSS or have anti features , Even though i have tried my best some mistakes could've been made or if the newer updates of one of the apps listed made it unworthy to be included in the list , the platform it listed on isn't available for it or the link is broken you can dm me and i will remove/fix it.

I've been using manjaro for a couple of years and I really like it. especially the wide variety of packages available. Recently been using yay to find/install.

I prefer to run FLOSS packages when they are available. But I do not find a convenient way to preferentially seek these out. Even to know what licenses apply without individually researching each specific package.

It does not seem to be possible to search, filter or sort based on license in the web interface for packagegs or AUR. I do not find anything about it in man pacman(8) or man yay(8).

The only way I have found to find license info from the terminal is using expac. You can use %L to display the license. I guess you could combine this in a search to filter, similar to some of the examples listed on pacman/Tips and tricks - ArchWiki. But I haven't quite got it to work.

This seems like something other people would want but I don't find any available solution for it. Am I missing something? Or is it something with the arch-based distros?

Treedome 0.4 Released (programming.dev)
submitted 8 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Treedome is a local-first, encrypted, note taking application with tree-like structures, all written and saved in your computer

Currently you can only try it by building it yourself, instruction here. https://codeberg.org/solver-orgz/treedome/src/branch/master/docs/building.md But .deb and nixpkgs update is planned to follow suit though! You can also try an outdated one in https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/treedome-bin

Tell me what you think about it!

The federation between mastodon and lemmy is strange. If a M account wants to follow a L community, they need to follow an automated M account which represents the L community. But if any M post mentions that L community, the post will get boosted by the community's M account, so everybody who follows will get a notification. And I'm not sure if this can be moderated from the L side, because it seems like it never goes through L. Such as - do you see this @opensource ? Does a L mod see this?
