6:45am: 8-year-old's alarm goes off.

6:50am: Me: "Turn your alarm off! Time to get up!"

7:00am: Me: Turns his light on. "Seriously, get up!"

Zombie 8-year-old: Gets out of bed and closes door.

7:05am: Teacher sends text: "No school today. Plumbing problems."

Me: Opens 8-year-old's door to see he's back in bed, still not in uniform, about to go back to sleep. "School's closed. The plumbing needs to be fixed."

8-year-old: Instantly jumps out of bed and turns on the TV.

7:25am: 8-year-old has already been in my room three time to tell me things I don't need to hear. Meanwhile, my meds won't kick in for 30 more minutes, so it's a struggle not to sound disinterested.

Please can we stop all the "AI bad" posts? Yes it's annoying but we don't need to see it in 8 out of 10 posts. If you don't want AI pictures or books or posters or whatever just don't buy it. Businesses will soon start to take notice that they have a shit load of stock left when nobody buys it. I'm not defending AI in anyway but enough is enough people.

I (19m), really just do not like when people say this.

I have genuinely been ruined for so fucking long because of the toxic relationships I was in, and it is frustrating to see people my age want them just so they can say that they had them or because they want the "fan fiction" version of a toxic relationship that is literally just a normal ass relationship with either

A) An abuser or

B) Someone possessive of them

Any person that has been in a toxic relationship and has been destroyed by one knows damn well they never want to be in another one ever again.

My wife decided it was a good idea to run both the dryer and the washing machine on maximum heat in the evening, "forgetting" that the water heater is preset to work for about 30 minutes.

30 minutes later — poof!

No electricity in the apartment, the UPS is beeping loudly, and she's calling me from the bedroom while trying to put our 3yo to sleep.

The bonus? Because of the way the electricity is configured in this 65yo building, the external fuse tripped. I had to get dressed and go to another entrance of the apartment building to fix it.

Update: 30 minutes later, I find my wife fast asleep near a wide awake 3yo. It took me another hour to get her to fall asleep. Now I'm waiting for the water heater so I could take a shower.

It is beyond annoying when I hear or see people refer to any black person as “African-American”. It’s not like calling a black person “black” is a slur. I’d argue it’s more offensive to call them African American than black. Hate to break it you but not all black people are of African descent.

I invited my mom and my stepdad over for dinner, nothing out of the ordinary. I cooked dinner and everything was fine. We had bratwurst cooked in Angry Orchard, homemade potato chips and pasta salad. Very good dinner, everything was fine then.

It wasn’t until after dinner that things went south. We were in my living room, just having a casual conversation about not much in particular while I was playing a game on my PS3.

Then out of nowhere, the Cybertruck gets brought up. We start dissing on it because of how ugly and a piece of shit it is. Then my mom decided to give the jackass, who shall not be named, praise and turned the whole conversation political.

My stepdad and I managed to get the conversation back off the political note by letting him finish what he had to say (apparently one in my area got repo’d by police and they now own it).

They know I hate politics though, to the point where I don’t even have live TV service. I know at this point it’s nothing more than a rant, but come on. I shouldn’t have to spell it out for them.
