Any sort of Middle Earth legendarium artwork is ok. It doesn't need to be made by or about hobbits.

Please give attribution to the original artist when possible.

It is not required, but if you know, please talk a bit about the scene in the image. What's going on? Who is in it? Why is it happening? Do you like it? Why?

Source: The Witch-king of Angmar enters Minas Tirith (by Lorenzo de Sanctis - ArtStation)

I recently finished reading 'The Lord of the Rings'...and what a ride! Some parts of the story are pretty dull, but there is usually an EPIC scene after those parts.
I wanted to represent the scene how I imagined it, reading the book.
I took this illustration as an exercise to improve my skills in composition for an image for the cinema.
This image represents one of the epic moments. It's the moment when the Witch-king of Angmar enters Minas Tirith on his black horse.
"The Black Rider flung back his hood, and behold! he had a kingly crown; and yet upon no head visible was it set. The red fires shone between it and the mantled shoulders vast and dark. From a mouth unseen there came a deadly laughter."
After all, I loved the book, maybe even more than The Hobbit.
Read it if you have the chance. It's hard but worth it.

Personal work. Its been a while, since I painted something in praise of Tolkien. We can't have that now, can we? Here's another view of my earlier City of the Gondolindrim painting.

* More painting of obscure (at least for me) topics on their Tokien Inspired album

‘Bilbo comes to the Huts of the Raft-elves’, July 1937. Tolkien was disappointed when this illustration was left out of the American edition as it was his favourite one, where he felt he had captured the scene most successfully.

The five armies are goblins, eagles, dwarves, elves, and men. Beorne doesn't count as an army, although it might take one to kill him. Sand worms don't count either because they are from Dune.

Note that Beorne is rescuing Thorin.

This is a miniature scene of Boromir's last stand at Amon Hen when he was defending Merry and Pippin from the Uruk Hai and orcs.

I was hoping that this was a kit or something, because I'd love to paint this. But, it appears to be a custom project someone did using games workshop miniatures.

Boromir's death (Bakshi 1978) (mutantreviewers.files.wordpress.com)

I know Bakshi's version has A LOT of issues, but I grew up watching it again and again and I have very fond memories of it. I'm aware I am in the minority.

One of the scenes I love is Boromir's death (video link)... if you can ignore the "not-enough-budget" Uruk-hai. I like the roughness and lack of music once Boromir's is hit with the first arrow.
