So, I'm aware of 14-100 with tap conductors, I just was learning about it in school, but I'm not certain about this one particular application.

In this installation, the boss has a 20 amp circuit w/ 12 gauge wire feeding the first device, but then a 14 gauge wire goes from that outlet to the next device (which will maybe pull 1 amp tops). I am just trying to figure out what code applies to this installation. The inspector allowed it on the last building so I'm assuming it's permitted somewhere in this massive CEC book? It does make sense given Kirchoff's Current Law that the full 20 amps will never go through that 14 gauge wire, just curious. Is this 14-100, or some other rule I'm not or less familiar with?

Anyone have experience with any insulated Bib overalls? I'm a fairly small guy (5'8" 135lbs) and am looking to get a pair or two for working outside in the winter (in Massachusetts) and would appreciate any input, advice, or experience others have with them. Thanks in advanced!

I’m a new journeyman and completed all class through a JATC and they made me sign a form day one stating i can’t go work for competition electrical for 5 years after i turn out or face a fine (basically 5 years of dues🙄😆). So my question is- is data or fire alarm considered the competition?

Thanks guys

So these look cool but 2 questions, 1 where's the switch? I'm guessing that's a massive red flag as you want to be able to isolate a socket If an appliance goes boom... 2 where are the fuses? I can't see a slot for one? Maybe someone with more knowledge on these would be able to help? Are they twist to turn off? Are the fuses in the back? Just peaked my curiosity tbh

Hey guys. Currently working under a journeyman for about 5 months (Non-Union). Planning to join Union whenever I get accepted. Any advice on how to learn the trade without schooling? Currently just learning on the job which is great and I’m getting better. Waiting for education provided by my Local Union.

I’m 16 yr now and this summer i’m going to go learn “electrical maintenance “ they call it through a school program. I’m pretty interested my dad has been in the trades and has friends who are electricians but will the money and hours be worth it starting off early as i am. I want to try and start off early as a i can but will this help me make some serious money sooner? I’m hoping this will allow me to get an apprenticeship sooner by starting soon as i can And is there anything I should know walking into this?

So I was interested in This trade a year ago and because everyone says trades are losing workers , Decided to commit too it because it was interesting I took trade classes (They were free) electrician 1-3 , Sadly the School wasn’t State certified(Cali) for ET cards now they are. Now I’ve been applying for Jobs in this trade for almost a year now and no luck since I’m green? Finding no work is making me lose interest in this trade. My question is , is it worth Spending however much money to start classes again to get an ET card or will I end up being in the same boat just in debt :/ ?

My husband and I just started our own electrical contracting business. He is a master electrician and has been doing this for 20 years. He has worked in residential and commercial. We are starting as a one man shop but might pay to go thru our local union so in the event we need to hire people we can hire from the union. My husband has been union and the hall gave him some information. Does anyone have suggestions on rates? Set prices on certain items? I will be doing all of the management/financials/paperwork for bids.

Original Title: I'm wondering what transformer setup I have and how to tell. The transformer is locked up outside with no markings on the outside. I have to install a VFD and don't know wether or not to remove a jumper. 480 Volt.
