Also... video uploads are a thing now ;)

@[email protected]

I tried to upload an image, but got the error IO error: Os { code: 28, kind: StorageFull, message: "No space left on device" }

I'm assuming it's a different storage area than the main database, otherwise this will fail too...

Just posting a link in case our awesome admin team missed it - Happy New Year guys, you're great!

Anyone going on a bender? Big new year's plans? Festivals? Going to 37C3? Or having a chill one?

I'm probably going to do fun things like automating the deployment of new versions to our dev instance with automatic restore from the latest backup. Then I can get a better idea on what Lemmy is going to do on Prod.
Yes that is what I classify as a good time ๐Ÿ˜…

That's one of the features of the 0.19 version, but I don't know how to do it.

Hey Reddthat mods,

Is there a mechanism to report entire communities? I found one that appears to be

trigger warningpro-pedophilia
but it's the lone mod doing the posting, so sending a report will likely be ignored.

It's a community on this instance.

Sorry to be that guy, but looks like the alternate UIs are offline again. And btw, on status.reddthat it says old.reddthat (which I use) has been offline over a month, which is not correct :-)

I noticed reddthat getting very little posts so I signed up and started contributing to the top communities. How can we get more people to do the same?

Do you also have image upload issues sometimes? I have posted a screenshot of how it looks when it fails. It is a known bug -> https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1489

Do you maybe know how to get around it, and still be able to upload the image?

I want to create a few communities, but two of them are bot communities with a high volume of posts, and I would interact with them only a couple of times a day. I would like to know what the rules are regarding bots and specifically bot communities. I made these communities on lemm.ee, but they changed the rules to forbid this kind of communities later, so I'm asking first this time. The main reason the bot communities were forbidden in lemm.ee was that they caused too much noise on the local feed, and people complained about it.

Here are the communities I'm planning to create:

Can anyone provide information on the rules and guidelines for bot communities on Reddthat.com? I want to ensure that I'm following the platform's policies before creating these communities. Thanks in advance!

The only request i make is you watch the video before. If this violates guidelines in any way then no hard feelings if it gets deleted. Note: bo not do any of what you see in the video. Predator hunting is absolutely dangerous and should not be taken on by average people.

I've mostly been using the Sync app (which shows a downvote option everywhere), so I didn't notice the lack of downvoting until I was spending a lot of time on desktop yesterday and saw there are actually no downvote buttons anywhere ๐Ÿ˜ฎ on Reddthat.

I've since tracked down what seems to be the Reddthat policy discussion around this issue, which also made clear that even if I downvote content from another instance through a 3rd-party app like Sync, because I'm doing it from an account on Reddthat (which has downvoting disabled), my downvote doesn't go through!

This sucks. ๐Ÿ™ Downvoting is an essential tool for users to help keep their communities on-topic and discourage bad behavior. It lets people take action against ignorance or bigotry without feeding the trolls; minimize people trying to derail discussions or be obnoxious in the comments; and prevent memes, sensationalism, and low-effort posts from flooding communities meant for thoughtful discussion.

It's unfortunate that lemmy doesn't support disabling downvotes just within specific communities yet, so this wouldn't have to be such an all-or-nothing policy, but as-is this means making Reddthat my home instance has restricted my options and given me less of a voice everywhere within the lemmyverse.

@[email protected], is there any chance this policy will be reconsidered? So many comments in the previous discussion seemed to agree that downvotes are a valuable and desired feature. It doesn't seem like that feedback has resulted in any kind of policy change yet though. Was a specific decision made after that discussion to keep voting disabled, or has it just been stuck in a wait-and-see state? Would it be possible to change this?

See title. I've checked the announcements community and here, but couldn't find anything mentioning this. I normally use old.reddthat, so I initially noticed the problem there, but then I looked into voyager.reddthat and alexandrite.reddthat and they're giving out cloudflare errors too. www.reddthat still correctly opens voyager though, so maybe it's just a DNS issue?

It seems like, luckily, Reddthat wasn't a victim of such (yet), but I think there should be some precaution applied here as well.

What is it about?

I am worried of such happening on our instance. Is anything planned?

I just noticed that my account has a "Bot Account" flag. Can someone explain where it comes from and what it involves?
