I downloaded Cascadeur from gfxdomain and vfxmed and they both gave me this same patcher. Is this a virus? Or a false positive? I've never had so many detections but I just feel like it would be weird for 2 different sites to have a virus patcher.

I use steam and proton to play pirated games on linux, i install some game from fitgirl/dodi or other, then use "add non-steam games" in steam, so far i haven't had many problems, but what i'm concerned about is the fact that i might not benefit from some bugfixes.

With each new version of Proton, I see that there are several game-specific bug fixes and performance improvements; but when I play non-Steam games, will Proton be able to detect what game I'm playing and apply the game-specific patches, or am I stuck with the "general" Proton settings, which may lead to some issues.

Can someone with experience in Linux game piracy answer me please?

I've been in search of a place to download separate audio tracks for movies (multiple languages). I've found literally 0 in weeks but many topics of people asking for a way to download those separate audio tracks.

I did find some other trackers in other languages (non-english) where users literally upload only the audio track of a movie (that's the purpose of the site/tracker).

I'm curious, why is here none universal tracker for this? Like one to upload multiple languages.

Like a big online archive for (movie) audios. Is there any demand for this? Does anyone know if there is such a place to download multiple audio tracks?

So for a while now i have been using the website Flixator to find movies I can’t find on any of my streaming platforms. For a while i felt like it was very safe but as of late they have been redirecting me to very shady websites whenever I try to click anything on their site. It’s a shame because I really got used to the layout of that site. Can someone here please tell me some safe alternatives to Flixator that have a similar layout to it?

I like this site because it offers a sizeable amount of movies and series in a small-ish size but still in good quality but lately they use multiple layer of ads which makes the navigation a hassle even with ublock origin. Are there any alternatives that similar to this site?

I'm running qbit on my 2011 late MacBook pro. Originally I did path the downloads directly into my HDD but one moment the .mkv files were there and the next they all disappeared, I even plugged it into my windows laptop to check if it was a OS issue but dosent seem that way.

Now I'm directly downloading the files on my mac's local disk and it looks alright, but I was transfering the files over to my HDD and the same thing happened. Weirdest thing is, when I tried to re-transfer the same files, it says "This file already exist in this location"

So now I'm confused, are they just hidden? I tried unhiding hidden folders but I still didn't see the .mkv files where they were supposed to be.

Was browsing an hotel and got this message when I clicked on the "website" of the google page.

Checked the url on virus total, bitdefender and malwarebytes and all gave 0 alerts.

After that I went on https://hhlbhutan.bt/taktsang-village-resort-paro/ which is also parte of the hotel page and got in without problems or alerts.

Also checked this 2nd url on virus total, malwarebytes and bitdefender and nothing.

Scaned my pc with malwarebytes and nothing found.

Should I worry?

Thanks

TL;DR - The entire streaming industry's offerings, combined, are vastly inferior compared to what's possible through piracy. Piracy is even more revolutionary than Netflix was in the early days.

Remember how amazing it was when Netflix introduced the world to Streaming in a way that no one had done before? In the early days, for a low monthly payment, I could watch The Office online, ad free, without swapping discs. It truly felt like a digital revolution was taking place.

Fast forward nearly 20 years, the streaming industry is massively fragmented, monthly prices have skyrocketed, certain features (like password sharing) that used to be touted by Netflix and others are now no longer possible or require additional monthly fees, and the ads, OMFG, are everywhere unless you pay even higher monthly fees.

Hulu did it. Hulu broke me with their shitty app and incessant ads. They pushed me over the edge, and I came here to learn everything I could so I could be free. It's been a little more than a year since I cancelled every streaming service and hit the seas for the first time in my life, and I seriously cannot overstate how much of a game changer piracy is.

My media server offers more to me than any streaming service can provide:

  • No rotating content based on licensing. What lives on my server is there forever unless I want it removed. This applies to digital purchases too (looking at you, Sony).
  • No ads, ever. I don't have feelings a rage after seeing the same shitty, annoying AF ad three or more times during a 20 minute episode of TV. Looking at you, Hulu.
  • No quality paywalls. If I want 4k, I can get 4k.
  • No awful compression. I remember watching a show on Netflix a few years ago, and despite having amazing internet speeds, that one specific show had horribly bad compression artifacts. And it was a Netflix original! That BS doesn't happen on my server.
  • No limits on sharing. If I want to share my server with friends and family, I can do that easily.
  • No geo-blocks on content. As soon as something is available in any part of the world, I can also watch it.
  • No hopping between five, six, or seven different apps just to watch what I want. Everything I want to watch is located in a single app.
  • No hunting for my "continued watching" shelf! Netflix started to get bad about this, though maybe it's better now. I'd have to scroll down just to find the show I wanted to resume.

And the list could go on and on.

Even the hardware and energy costs are less than what I'd spend in a year on streaming services. I've come to the conclusion that even if every streaming service combined into a single entity and offered a subscription as FAST or for a low monthly rate (similar to Spotify), it still wouldn't be enough to make me give up on sailing the seven seas. The seas are just too good to ever go back.

what are mac users' experience with the xbox controller and windows games through crossover or parallels?

I downloaded Descendant to be exact and there's another post about this game that says fps is low and the xbox controller does not work.

Anyone else encounters compatibility issues with said controller?

Is there a similar thing for books? A place where I can easily download, search and keep track of all my reading regardless of file format and other annoyances?

Streamio genuinely changed my life for the better and I was hoping to find a similar joy in pirating books

I managed to get myself a Dell 9010 at a reasonable price with quite nice specs:

Core i7 3770 CPU 3.4 GHz 16 Ram 2Tb Barracuda Hard Drive Windows 10 Pro (if it's useful)

I'm trying to get a basic server both for movies and series, as well as seeding on Qbit. Any suggestions? Should I get a small SSD for the OS separatedly? I have a bunch of HDDs full of series and movies, should I look for an adaptor or just by connecting them with a case via usb?

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Thanks!
