Why?
I didn't know Automattic bought them and I'm kind of meh about WordPress. It's really bloated.
WordPress has many issues, but this also a good sign that they are thinking about adding Activity Pub support for Tumblr. As WordPress already has the functionality for their own sites.
Man I can't imagine what transitioning that many sites to WordPress is like. God speed.
