I'm sure this is not intentional so not trying to shame nzb.su - I paid for VIP with BTC. After the transaction was paid I got a message that it was only a 'partial payment' looks like it was .02 cents short b/c of the transaction fee on the BTC network. Trying to reach out to the admins but you can only send a support message if you're a VIP member... Do they have a presence here at all? Anyone have a suggestion as to how to proceed?

I'm curious. Has anyone received a TOS warning for requesting a file on Usenet?

For example, if I was looking for a long out of print book and posted a request on one of the e-book newsgroups that is frequented by a few uploaders, is there any chance I could receive a TOS warning for simply requesting an old book? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is the API of nzb.su down for anyone else?

Ok, I've been doing all of the reading and research and I think I've finally decided on my plan of action but would greatly appreciate any insights from those with more experience. I'm located in Asia if it matters. Thanks in advance for your time.

My current system is working fine with torrents and my automation is in place. Obviously there are some things that are great and other that are just not available or are not reliable. To this end I want to transition towards Usenet to fill in those gaps.

Providers I plan to subscribe to:

NewsHosting (high winds)

Frugal + block news (netnews + ???) frugal has stated the new bonus server is on a different backbone than netnews and is no longer on farm but can not disclose where it is located due to agreements they have with the backbone to not disclose.

I assume these two should cover most things and then if I needed more I could look at adding a block account on another backbone like news demon (Usenet express).

Indexers planned: NzbGeek Slug (when open again or I can snag an invite from the other subreddit if I get lucky) NzbPlanet (same as slug) Ninja (same as other private indexers)

But in the mean time maybe: Althub Digital Carnage NzbFinder Crawler

Other recommendations? Or more importantly any of these not worth adding to Geek at the start?

There are a lot of posts in the last few months about people signing up for lifetime deals at various providers and then getting notice that their pricing has been changed, sometimes as much as doubled, without their consent. Some people claim they were not notified while others claim they were notified but only a few days before the billing occurred. Here are some of the relevant links:

So how can you avoid being overcharged without your consent?

  1. If you paid with Paypal, simply login to Paypal, click the gear icon on the top right corner to access your account settings, click on payments, click on manage automatic payments, here you should see your active subscriptions. Just click on the subscription you would like to cancel and then click "cancel" or "cancel automatic billing"
  2. If you paid with credit card, simply login to your provider and ask to remove the card on file. They are required to remove the card if you ask. You can also ask your credit card company or bank to put a block on the provider from ever billing you again.

As of right now, it looks like the only providers who are changing the billing terms on customers are:

  • Eweka
  • Newshosting
  • Easynews
  • Usenetserver
  • Newsgroup Ninja

I realize there are other payment options some people use, but I do not have some of those options in my wallet so I can not give details, so maybe others can chime in with details, but I think the Omicron brands are the only providers raising rates and I think I covered the only payment methods they accept?

I've been a subscriber for almost 7 years and got a big surprise today with a nearly 50% price hike with zero notification. I've seen other threads talking about this. They have already charged my CC (I stupidly updated it as it had expired and only after the charge came through realized it was 50% more than my lifetime price).

I'm waiting for support to answer. Have others had a reasonable experience here with them making it right? I've asked for a full refund or an extra year of hosting for the price I've already paid and if not will do a VISA chargeback (which is not a good thing for them).

This leaves a really terrible taste in my mouth for them, this was a pretty sketchy move! Just had to share it with the community here. Curious how they responded to others in the same situation. Only ones I've read about are before they were overcharged ...

I’ve been a Frugal customer for quite some time now, and I feel like I need to warn others about the direction this service is taking. If you’re considering Frugal Usenet, you may want to think twice.

The latest issue is that they slashed the bonus server quota to a mere 500GB/month without any prior notice. This sudden change is a slap in the face to long-term users who signed up with the expectation of receiving more. But that’s not the only problem.

When I originally signed up I was getting Omicron primary with Usenet farm fill from the bonus server in addition to a block account with high retention. Now I have 3 of the exact same and always have to find out about it on Reddit. I think this warrants at least an email from Frugal themselves.

And let’s not forget their deceptive upselling of Blocknews accounts. Frugal Usenet makes it sound like a great addition, but if it’s using the same backend, it’s completely redundant.

Honestly, the lack of transparency and the sudden uncommunicated shifts in service are huge red flags. It’s becoming apparent that Frugal prioritizes cost-cutting and deceiving customers over delivering a dependable service.

So I was availing myself to some content, and multiple providers failed to acquire a couple of "files" with the word Christmas in the filename. Thought it odd but moved on. Then on another season of files the same thing happened. Is there something weird about files named Christmas?

Hi Guys

I have been a member of a shall not be named indexer for many years (Any members here will probably realise the site). About a month ago the site went offline and I thought they had been closed down. I see the site is now back up with a new 2.0 banner. However, I cannot log in with my old details and the forgotten password option doesn't work either.

Anyone with access able to provide a support email or way to message admins to fix my login?

When downloading from news.usenetserver.com, I inspected the source of the data and noticed multiple IP addresses, such as 85.12.62.240 and 85.12.62.221, which appear to be based in the Netherlands. This makes me wonder: Does UsenetServer no longer have servers located in the United States? (I only checked because I was getting lower speeds on the West Coast compared to the East Coast.)

I signed up for EasyNews in mid January. Picked it because it was cheap and worked in the browser on iPad. Went for an unlimited deal for a year. I really enjoyed it for streaming. Everything was fast, but now it isn’t anymore. Think two hours now for a 7GB file, meaning streaming also sucks. Have tried switching servers, checked my internet and all of that, but it still feels slow. I’m in Europe and usually I get best speeds from USA east. Europe did give me fast speeds, but now it’s usually less than 10mbps. But of course even if the server test gives me a faster server, it doesn’t mean the file downloads at that speed.

I do wonder if they limit speeds after the first weeks? I’m on unlimited, but does it get better if I pay more? An alternative service maybe?

I’m wondering if there’s something better for movie iso. I have 4K blu-rays, but I notice that newer versions of the movie I own come with dolby vision and atmos. I also enioy bonus features, why I look for iso. Also looking into Scandinavian movies and tv shows. Would really appreciate some answers and recommendations. I’m new to this so I’m sure I just have a bit to learn. I have a synology nas if that changes recommendations

Hi people,

I've been researching for almost a week on how to get set up and I wanted to get some thoughts on what I think I'm going to be doing (US based).

  • I plan on subscribing to Eweka & Frugal. Have seen many comments about other resellers/providers, but these seem to have a common thread of positive opinions.

  • I plan on lifetime subs to NZBGeek & Miatrix. Again, seem to garner mostly positive opinions. Was thinking about Ninja, but see they are closed to new subs ATM.

Am I missing anything important? Anything to change or watch out for?

Sorry if these are very basic questions, but reading through so many posts with so much good info is like drinking from the proverbial fire hose.

Thanks!

As a direct result of the 25% tariffs imposed on Canadian goods and services by the US government, I am looking at every opportunity to stop paying funds to US based companies and am asking for advice on which usenet providers are based in Europe/Asia/Africa and could be used as alternative service providers. I currently use UsenetExpress and UsenetServer.

Thanks in advance

Hey!

For background I have Frugal and I found out that recently they switched backbone. I would want a backbone with higher retention (for older stuff) and I think Omicron fits.

Any recommendations? What about Eweka? I'm based in south america (if that matters)

Thanks!

Perhaps it is just me, but for the last two weeks, all I get from Easynews when performing a search is the error below. The stats page is no help, and I'm not seeing anyone else online indicating they're getting the error. So, I'm reaching out to see if Easynews is mad at me. Extra suck because I renewed for the year three weeks ago SMH

Hi,

So i'm using SabNZB with Sunny Usenet and with Newsgroup (the last one is new). I'm using NZBGeek for my NZB files. Around 80% of the downloads fail with missing articles. Even super new download of like 1 day fail.

Any idea what could be up? I thought Sunnt Usenet was getting worse so switched to Newsgroup to try out a new one but seems te fail as well.

Until a few days agora I had never heard of Usenet. When it came to this I’ve stopped back in Piratebay. Used mostly for music (before streaming era) and desktop computer applications (eg, Microsoft suite or photography apps).

How far have things come? Is there a “manual” on how to use Usenet? What is the step by step for someone looking for an application and starting from a complete zero (I mean, haven’t downloaded anything and not even gone to any website)?? If you believe is needed, give me an intro on what usenet is and how it works, nothing technical, as someone who used piratebay.

Many thanks for all the guidance you can bother to spend time sharing 🙏

Hey everyone,

I am very excited to announce v20 of nzb360!

v20 includes the new Dashboard 2.0, allowing you to fully customize the media Dashboard of your dreams, giving you full integration to all of nzb360's services (full *arrs, universal search, disk space, server issues, full discovery of media, etc.)

Check out some screenshots of Dashboard 2 here: https://imgur.com/a/cEi0CYy

As always, DB2 is just the beginning, and I'd love to hear your thoughts about how I've done with this and future functionality you'd like to see added to DB2.

Thank you so much for everyone's continued support over the past 12 years of nzb360 development. Here is to the next 12 :)
