Hello all! I am looking for a Motherboard for Ryzen 7000 series with 3 M.2 slots and hoping someone here may have some reviews on what they have found. I have a small form factor case with no space for HDD's. Which is why im trying to go with ONLY M.2 storage but would like to have 3 slots. Cheers

My Asus AM4 motherboard fried itself and the system is still acting flaky with the RMAed board, so I'm doing a clean HTPC build since I don't trust any of the components that were in it.

The motherboard I'm looking to get is an Asrock B650I Lightning board with the upcoming Ryzen 7 8700G CPU. The board and CPU both support HDMI 2.1, and the integrated GPU on the CPU is Radeon 780M. So would be nice to just use integrated graphics for HTPC use cases (4K, HDR, Bitstreaming Surround). I was previously using a GTX 970, whereas the integrated Radeon 780M seems to be on par with it.

Will I be able to bitstream Atmos using the onboard HDMI?

I am unsure about the ram size. Is 3.5cm fine on height? Which should I pick to make it fit without worry? Someone told me it should be Max 3.2cm and I am having troubles finding any in Amazon.

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to do a NAS build with the Jonsbo N3 and have put together a build and have a few questions I’d appreciate feedback on from the experts in this group.

The build is here.

Questions

  1. Cooling. I’ve been considering a Noctua NH-U12S or a liquid cooler such as the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240. Dimensions wise, both look like they will fit. I’d prefer the liquid cooler but purely because I’ve not done a build with one before. Any thoughts from anyone who has used either?
  2. I’d like to add a 10Gbe NIC (Mellanox MCX-311A -XCAT) and also an LSI 9300-8i. There’s only one x16 slot but I’ve also come across PCI-e bifurcators to turn one X16 into two x8’s (such as this). Any thoughts on these and also where or how to confirm if the mainboard supports it? (I can’t see it anywhere online in product specs).
  3. The other option would be to use an NVME M2 to 6x SATA connector (this) instead and ditch the bifurcator and LSI card. Has anyone gone in this direction and was it stable/robust?
  4. Power. I *think* 500w is enough for this and 8x hard disks but I’d rather get more than less. I'm also not very knowledgeable on PSU's in general. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Many thanks in advance.

How well would a 7950x go in a factual ridge with a air cooler?

Would 240 aio fit if the gpu is thin enough and if i use slim fans?

I define small as 10L volume or so like s300 (smallest). What is the possible con and what is the advantage? I guess you guys get crazy and go for 5L sizes...

Hello,

The power button broke on one of my favorite cases, the Lian Li PC-Q07. I submitted a warranty ticket via and the response was that the parts are no longer available.

Does anyone know of a compatible power button for the Lian Li PC-Q07?

Thanks in advance.

Hi I'm looking for a way to passive cool an Intel i5 13500H. Here is the current cooling on the device that uses a fan. My non-technical naive thought was just to purchase an aluminum 69mmx69mmx48mm heatsink and attach it with some thermal adhesive and a 3d printed part, but that doesn't seem the right move. Any ideas?

Does the Corsair 2000D need any intake fans? The GPU pulls in it's own air and I plan on using an AIO as exhaust (I could use them as intake I guess but I need your opinion on it

Now that the front panel extender is available….

Wondering if I can fit a 45mm 280 rad in the front with 25mm fans and still be able to put the EK TBE120 pump res combo in the front next to the power supply. Was thinking about swapping out my Corsair XR5 280 rad for the Alphacool HPE-45 280 or with the Bitspower Leviathan II 280 40mm. What do you guys think? Will I see any significant improvements with the thicker rad? Unfortunately, my GPU waterblock is a little too thick and tall (Alphacool 7900XT) to add a second rad on that side. Not to mention it takes away from the great looking waterblock.

For reference my components are

  • Asrock B650i Lightning
  • Optimus Foundation CPU block
  • AMD Ryzen 7800X3D
  • Sapphire Reference 7900XT with a Alphacool Eisblock block
  • EK TBE 120 pump res combo
  • Corsair XR5 280 rad
  • Thermaltake Toughfan Pro 14 fans x 2

Anyone interested in the new coolermaster power supply beware!

Specs while using the psu: 12600k with 6700xt pulling around 200-230w. Also in an H1 thats 3 feet away from me.

Its a more audiable then my gpu during gaming. This is a problem because once I stop playing games and take off my IEM, all I hear is the PSU in the background going full speed.

I know this psu has a low fan profile because during startup and just browsing, the psu makes barely any noise but only after games the fan doesn't stop. Its sounds like my gpu fans running 75% fan speed and it never stops.

Coil whine is bad too. It sounds like it's fluctuating in pitch, half the time it sounds like high pitch squealing noise.

I switch to powerspec psu, had coil whine but more constant sound and lower pitch. Also the fan stops spinning right after I stop the game.

Just for clarification, this is the link to the psu:

Have a r5 5600 and an old rtx 2070 super and will assemble this weekend. However I’ve seen lots of complaints about cpu temps in the Terra but most the builds I’ve seen are with pretty high TDP cpus. I’m using a Noctua NH-L12s which I heard was better than the L9.

I’ve already spent quite a bit but wondering if I should still get a case fan for the Terra (also not sure which one to get if I do get one)

Do yall think I’ll need one?
