I just ordered a Velka 5 v3 and I am considering an entirely new build. I'd like to consider the most powerful GPU I can get my hands on. As of right now, there's a few 4070 super models that seem compatible. But, I see Inno3d is releasing the 4070 ti super and it is compatible with my Velka 5.

I saw a thread discussing the fan layout of the card and how it may make the Velka 5 an absolute hotbox. Does anyone have any thoughts on an undervolt here or should I just consider going for the super model? Even the super line doesn't have many threads on it, so if I have to settle for a regular 4070, I can do so as well...I just want the best bang for my buck and the 4070 ti super seems like the best fit there. Thoughts?

Hey guys, last night I finished up my new build on AM5 with the Asrock B650I Lightning Phantom Gaming motherboard and I am having trouble booting the PC. I’m using G Skill DDR5 6000mhz and the Ryzen 7800x3D, along with my RTX 2070. I moved over my M.2 SSD and 2 2.5 SSDs from my last PC, one of the SSDs has Windows 10 installed on it. At first when I booted the pc, it would boot into BIOS and I could see all my devices detected in there properly, however the RAM was at 4800mhz by default. I enabled EXPO which put it at 6000 but this didn’t change anything, it would only boot into BIOS. When I opened the boot menu it told me “No boot device detected,” even though all my drives were showing up in BIOS. I enabled CSM, and this solved the issue of no boot device, and the PC gets past the BIOS screen but now it’s just a black screen and won’t boot into Windows. I can still restart the PC and enter BIOS and stuff but anything past that is just a black screen. Any advice? This is my first AM5 build and I know stuff like this is common but I haven’t found much online about this motherboard in particular.

The Lian Li Q58 has a cooler clearance of 67mm, are there any air coolers out there that can sufficiently cool this? (I am not taking a AIO cooler because I want this to last long and AIO's last for like a good 4 years)

So I am building a singularity computers Stream S ITX. I have a asus loki 1000 watt. It looks like i could have billet labs make me a cpu combo block for a second 4090 to clear the power board. But can this power supply do the work?

I would have to have a custom cable go from the 2x cpu pci-E to power the second card correct?

The Build so far

7950x

Gigabyte B650I Aorus Ultra Mini Itx

Lian Li UNI Fan SL120 V2

Team Group MP44 4TB X3

Corsair Vengeance DDR 5 Ram 96GB 6000mhz CL30

4090

I will be under volting the cpu never really tried with a video card I do know that when the 4090 on my second system is set to 70% power i only lose 1 second of render time per frame rendered out of Houdini using redshift. I should really do tests to see just how low i can go before Redshift really really starts needing the power to complete a render in good time.

Edit: were do i find info on how much power this PS supply's to each 8 pin?

First time building an sff pc, and i’m using an i7-12700k. Does anybody have experience with the Noctua NH-L12S?

Additionally, for anyone with experience with the Terra Fractal, the CPU cooler is 70mm while my GPU is 2.5 slot, so about 50mm in width. Is that enough clearance?

Thanks to all in advance!

P.S. I don’t plan on maxing this thing out every time I use it. Some intense gaming here and there but mostly very moderate loads.

Hi all,

I'm looking to build a new PC that is small enough to put in my carry on, I travel about 3/4 times a year and want to take my gaming PC with me. I thought about a laptop, but I want to be able to upgrade in the future if necessary, which is not possible with laptops, also the price for a decent gaming laptop are very high at the moment.

Now my question is, are Air cooling systems good enough for SFF pcs? I don't want my CPU fried or my case to explode when gaming. Or should I opt for an AIO system instead and just try and put it in my luggage underneath?

I want to build on the lian li q 58 (white) I will be reusing my rx580 8gb for now but will upgrade in a short while to the rx 6800xt or 7700xt( haven't decided yet) Can't decide between intel 12 th gen and am4. The 12th gen leads and upgrade path to the 13 th and 14th gen

But I'm honestly not interested and would rather build a new pc 4 years down the line. am4 is EOL. As this is my first ITX build I honestly kind of stumped. I would like the build to fit my suitcase or backpack while being moderately capable (1440p gaming ). I have loosely decided on 2 builds and would like your help in choosing one.

Intel

I5 12400f / i7 12700 [kind of over budget]

Asrock B660m-i

Kingston fury 16 gb kit 3600 mhz

Lian li sfx 750w

WD Elements 1 tb nvme gen 4

Cooler master 240mm aio

Am4

Ryzen 7 5700x/ 5800x [ negligible price diff][I'm honestly surprised]

Gigabyte B550 i auros pro

Kingston. Fury 16 gb kit

Lian li sfx 750 w psu

WD Elements 1 tb nvme gen 4

Cooler master 240 mm aio

Building a server in 1U rack case, with 4 pcs. M.2 SSD. Don't have much space, so only mITX fits. Will be using PCIe to 4xM.2 board, so need true x4x4x4x4 bifurcation.

Was looking around specifications and some manuals say they support x8x8 without mentioning x4x4x4x4, but then people on forums say they have tested and x4x4x4x4 works. For example Asrock A520M-ITX/ac.

So I'm looking for a AM5 ITX board that someone can confirm really works. I don't want to buy hardware just to figure out it does not work.

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone got the CM v850 sfx atx 3.0 and could give us a feedback.

Unfortunately my sf600 died and i have been looking for new psu.

I know that the sf750 is the way to go here but i really would like at least 850w psu.

Unfortunately i can't find neither the phanteks or the Silverstone here (which a lot of people praise, and are really semi passive) and the loki is sfx-l which will condamn one fan on the nr200.

Thanks

I have spent days researching SFF cases and with the many case trade offs and variables I come to you asking for advice. I have decided to upgrade to DDR5 in the mini itx form factor and I need help finding a case that fits the bill. My requirements are the following:

  • small desk foot print (vertical orientation sounds good)
  • air cooled with decent thermals
  • ideally no riser card/cable
  • has to be able to fit 3-4 slot full length GPUs

So far the only case I have found that fits the reqs are the Corsair 2000D (not even SFF) or the Hyte revolt 3. Any recommendations?

Can't decide if I want the Gigabyte Windforce or Eagle in my Terra build. Is anybody else between these two as well?

I am using an IS-55 with a 25mm Noctua fan to cool a 7800x3D, so I have about 53-55mm GPU width to work with. These cards at 50mm will fit, or I can try a Zotac Trinity at 59mm if I downgrade to a 15mm CPU cooler fan.

I'm not too well versed on "flow through" GPU coolers, and from their website it seems like this might fall in that category? If that's the case, what is my optimal PSU orientation, and should I use the PSU standoffs?

I am planning a family room Itx build and have the opportunity to snag a used SF600 Platinum. I know there are mixed feelings with buying used PSUs, but the seller has verified with a PSU tester that everything is working good. My question is, is this a good PSU to be had for $100 or less in 2024? I am not sure if there are better PSUs to be had now, because, as I understand, the Corsair sf series was pretty highly regarded a couple years ago but I could not find much recent information. My concern is less that they will power my setup (parts will be low power) and more of if there are better PSUs to be had in a similar price range

Played around with this idea back in 2018 but couldn't get it to work. Was recently thinking of upgrading some components and saw there are some products out there that might make it possible to fit 240mm's worth of rads into an A4-SFX and create a custom loop for both the CPU and GPU!

Basically just looking for a gut check to see if people think this crazy idea of mine will work, or if there are some obvious red flags I'm missing.

The basic idea is to use two of the Dan-designed 120mm AIO brackets to create a "Cooling and Power" sandwich block in the front of the case, isolated from the cpu/gpu zones. Using pairs of Alphacool ST20 HPE's, Noctua A12x15's, a bunch of Koolance low profile 90 fittings, and two HDPLEX 250w PSUs, it seems like there is just enough space to fit it all in. Would be using a ModUltra LOBO as the pump for the loop, so I don't need to find space for that as most other custom loops I've seen have needed to.

My main concern is fitment and heat management. There's ~4mm gap between the rad fans and the HDPLEX units, and almost-literally zero space between some of the Koolance fittings and the PSU's (if there's anything incorrect with the CAD files I'm using, or variance in the physical parts I'll be in trouble). I'm hoping that by having the 92mm fan under the PSU's/Rads that will be enough to pull the hot air out and way and I'm not just blowing furnace-hot air from the radiators at the HDPLEX's.

EDIT: Adding images which helps visualize the concept.

View of the "block" from the front of the case.

Top down view of the block. Notice the Koolance fittings (the four grey shapes between the fans and purple HDPLEX geometries) basically touch.

Underside view, showing 92mm exhaust fan and connection between the two rads.

Even closer view showing how insanely close the Koolance fittings get to the PSU's

Front view with the case frame hidden.

CPU side with ModUltra LOBO.

GPU side with mostly likely an RTX 4070 with Alphacool Eisblock

Thank you guys so much for your warm reception to SFFPC. I uploaded the STLs and the STEP files to Printables ()

Just know, it again is not quite ready. If you want to print it, I recommend either using the step files to adjust the height of the legs, or add rubber feet to the bottom of the legs to ensure proper ventilation of the fan.

I will continue to update the case design, and will let you guys know when I think it is truly worth printing.

Thank you!
