I figured I'd post this. It's a great way to get an LLM set up on your computer and is extremely easy for folks that don't have that much technical knowledge!

I’ve been using llama.cpp, gpt-llama and chatbot-ui for a while now, and I’m very happy with it. However, I’m now looking into a more stable setup using only GPU. Is this llama.cpp still still a good candidate for that?

From the latest commits:

We are happy to release our final 1T token version of OpenLLaMA 3B and 7B. We’ve updated the evaluation results. We are also happy to release a 600B token preview of the 13B model, trained in collaboration with Stability AI.

Haven't tried it yet, and the 13B model is still in the works, but hopefully this will be a better foundation than the leaked Meta AI model, not only for more reproducible research, but because nonacademics will be completely in the clear from a legal standpoint to run this stuff locally.

Everyone is so thrilled with llama.cpp, but I want to do GPU accelerated text generation and interactive writing. What's the state of the art here? Will KoboldAI now download LLaMA for me?

Hi, you've found this ~~subreddit~~ Community, welcome!

This Community is intended to be a replacement for r/LocalLLaMA, because I think that we need to move beyond centralized Reddit in general (although obviously also the API thing).

I will moderate this Community for now, but if you want to help, you are very welcome, just contact me!

I will mirror or rewrite posts from r/LocalLLama for this Community for now, but maybe we could eventually all move to this Community (or any Community on Lemmy, seriously, I don't care about being mod or "owning" it).
