I've wanted to upgrade my subwoofer for some time now. Currently have an old Energy 8" sub that has a constant hum which drives me nuts. I'd love to get an SVS sub but it's way too expensive, same with a lot of the good brands.

Someone on Facebook marketplace is selling a KEF Q400b for $100. Is this worth it? All of my other speakers are KEF too, though I know it doesn't matter when it comes to the sub.

I just picked up a 77" C3 and am looking to hook it up to my Xbox one X and my Denon AVR e300. I use the Xbox to play everything, netflix, blu ray discs, rabbit ear/television. I have Emotiva T1+ towers (when is their center coming back?!).

In the near future, I see myself buying the Denon 760H and an Xbox Series X, but for now that is what I am working with.

I have never messed around with earc or optical cables, but what is the best way to wire everything together to take advantage of 120hz and 60fps with the gaming of the xbox and utilize it for all other media playback as well. Will I run into issues with my current AVR?

I am having trouble figuring how to do this and I don’t think I am searching the manual or googling with the right words/terminology.

I want to be able to listen to each speaker individually, in order to meter and balance my system and compare it to Audassey.

I have a Denon S760H.

I'm looking to set up a system where I can play YouTube Music to a receiver using voice commands through a Google Nest Mini.

I'm looking for the following features: Play/pause specific songs and albums, Skip tracks and Voice control without pressing buttons (always-on mic).

My receiver needs replacing and I want smart speaker functionality, so I began looking for ones with built-in Google Assistant. I realized they're pricey and hard to search for, therefore I'm curious about alternative solutions that don't require built-in Assistant functionality in the receiver.

My questions:

Are there devices that can bridge the functionality of a Google Nest to a receiver, at a high bit rate with digital connections?

Which devices could offer this functionality while maintaining an always-on mic for voice commands?

Thank you for any insights or recommendations and I apologise for my ignorance in this area.

Everyone, I am not a professional so I hope this will still get some help. I have a Sony VPL-VW50 projector in my media room. The projector works but it is just not real clear and doesn't seem to be very bright.

What would be a good replacement for this?

The projector is ceiling mounted with a throw to a big mounted white screen in the media room.

Thanks in advance.

I can’t drill into my walls on the desired position and searching for a solution for mounting my Polk r900 above my surround speakers. Thanks for any ideas 🙏

We are in the process of building a new house and I'm trying to get some of the A/V details sorted out. We will have a large family room on the upstairs with a large TV and I will be putting together a nice home theater setup up there.

However, I would really appreciate the expert thoughts on our main floor. We will have a large, open floor plan, with a living room, kitchen and dining room all open. We are planning to have a TV in the living room over a fireplace for casual viewing. We likely won't watch any movies on this TV but might have a game on and we will definitely use speakers in this room frequently for music. So, I would like some decent speakers for music especially, but I would prefer to save the bigger dollars to spend on the upstairs HT.

So, my questions regarding the main floor...

  1. I am inclined to just do LRC, skip surrounds and subwoofer. Does that sound reasonable?
  2. Given the planned room setup, I thought a nice pair of bookshelf speakers would be a good fit?
  3. Again with the idea of saving the biggest dollars for the true HT, I went to Best Buy and really liked the B&W 606 S3s. They're $1100 for a pair which seemed like a decent spend. Any thoughts?
  4. Whichever LR speakers I ultimately go with, I assume I should just buy the matching center? The B&W 600 series center is another $900.
  5. My wife would like some speakers in the kitchen so that she doesn't have to turn the living room speakers up and make that room too loud for conversation. Any thoughts about how to do that? Ceiling speakers? Wireless bookshelfs? Do I need to match brands with the living room speakers?
  6. For this type of non-HT setup, what should I be looking for in a receiver?
  7. Anything else I should be thinking of?

Thank you all for any help you can give.

I am debating canceling my S90C order after reading bad things about it on this sub. I originally ordered the 77” S90C because the deal was too good to pass up ($2,000) and my local store is offering the G3 for $2,850. I’d also need to pay an extra $50-$100 for a stand.

My use case is streaming shows on my Apple TV, gaming on my Xbox, and watching movies.

I’m just not sure if it’s worth the extra $1,000 after taxes.

But I’m reconsidering the S90C because a lot of complaints on this subreddit about Samsung quality, processing, etc.

Should I cancel my order?

Hey guys. New to this sub, looking for a human answer not a google answer. So we have one wifi network at home, unfortunatelyi can't create a guest network on it. My mom and grandma live with me. My TV is off through the day as i am at work, and today, my grandma accidentally casted her youtube onto my TV in my room. Is there a way I can prevent this from happening? My mom did show her how to NOT do that, it was an honest mistake(my gran is not very clued up with phones so I'm guessing she got curious and clicked on it). Thanks everyone.

Hello Theater nerds!

I currently have a Denon AVR- X3100w running my audio setup. Athena S3 fronts (powered subs preout x2) S1 rears (powered subs crossover), Athena center and 12” in ceiling heights.

Would upgrading the receiver to an AVR-X3800H be a worthwhile upgrade for sound separation and handling? Or would that be a generally incremental upgrade.

I currently have to turn on “All Zone Stereo” mode to get the heights to output, which I figured once you configure it to “front height” mode instead of “zoneB” it would automatically run them as one zone. Am I missing something here?

Thanks all!

I'm looking at new towers & I can't decide. The CM9 S2 seems like people like it online, but it's old & used. The new Martian Logan F1s are $750 each so would be way more money, but I heard them in store & they sound great.

1: Budget max for towers alone is $1,500 (before tax)

2: Location- US- used I found these CM9 S2's in the Chicagoland area

3: Room size is 14×14 but it's only got 2 walls as this is the sitting room off of the living room, so the combined space is ~1,000sqft the right tower will ultimately have nothing to bounce sound off of until ~30' in the living room.

4: Receiver/AMP: need recommendations: I have none & can spend up to $700 new or used. I am going to buy a Fluance RT85 Vinyl turntable

5: Subwoofer: none but high end Bluetooth speakers & Sonos so all meh 6: I don't but I was planning on buying Klipsch $200-$500

Long time reader, first time poster.

I have a screen I pull down when I want to watch movies and at some point a lady bug got in there, got squished, and now I have a small red stain on my screen. I tried steam, magic eraser, laundry detergent, but nothing seems to work.

Any one have any ideas on how to get a ladybug stain off a screen?

I jumped on two deals this week.

Denon AVRS760H ($209 refurb) vs. Pioneer VSX-LX505 ($659 new). Both are great deals. I'm trying to decide which one to keep.

I have two sets of surrounds, and the back set also has up-firing height speakers.

My setup is not fancy, but I'd like to use all the speakers.

Thoughts about these two amps and whether the pioneer is worth 3x the price?

Thanks.

Hey guys im torn between these two receivers and i'm hoping somebody with a similar setup might provide some incite as to which of these i should go for. So the two that i'm interested in are the Denon AVR-S960H and the Onkyo TX-NR5100. i understand that these are a bit older but they fit within my budget so i'm not really looking to spend more than what these are going for used ($299ish refurbished with warranty. I'm just looking for advice between these two and if or what reasons one might be preferred over the other. Im just a big movie fanatic so thats primarily what the unit would be used for (no cable to anything like that) however my daughter does love gaming so i feel like that should be taken into consideration regarding our use case for the device. Most of the content i'd be playing through the device is HDR/HDR10+ non DV files and with little to no compression made to the movies/etc (so 100+ GB in size).

Current Hardware:

  • Primary source is my PC
  • Additional sources- Fire TV 4K/ Xbox One/Pioneer UHD Bluray player (firmware flash)
  • Graphics - EVGA 1660 Super
  • Display - Hisense 58" R6 Series - 58R6E3
  • Speakers connecting to avr are from a previous onkyo HTIB setup
  • R+L- SKF-550F
  • Center- SKC-550C
  • Back R+L=SKB-550
  • Rear L+R=SKM-550S
  • Sub is also Onkyo and was part of this system but not sure on model.

Thank you for any help you guys might provide!
