Here’s some links to websites which list products made in Canada. Please note I have not personally created these lists and there may be issues (e.g. made in Canada from an American company), so it’s best to still do your research. I will eventually have a list of my own for 100% Canadian brands, organized by product type, but until then you can use these lists to help you. I may add or remove lists from here as I see fit and based on community complaints/requests. This is definitely a work in progress still so please be patient, but also please do give me any feedback you can so I can improve this list.

This is not a vehicle for sale, but rather a technology showcase demonstrating Canadian know-how in the industry. While not something you can 'buy', I felt it was on-topic enough to warrant the crosspost. Mods do your worst! :P

TORONTO — GameStop Canada says it has been acquired by French-Canadian entrepreneur Stephan Tetrault from the video game retailer’s struggling parent company. > > Officially named Electronics Boutique Canada Inc., GameStop Canada says it will relaunch its 185 stores as EB Games Canada — a name associated with retail gaming from bygone decades. > > Tetrault is the founder of Montreal-area-based toy manufacturer Imports Dragon and co-owner of American action figure-maker McFarlane Toys, and last month became a partner at Canadian chain Mastermind Toys. > > U.S.-based GameStop Corp. said in February it was looking to sell its Canadian and French operations as it evaluates its international assets and doubles down on cost-cutting. > > GameStop was one of the companies at the centre of the “meme stock” craze on Wall Street, which saw struggling brands’ share prices soar as retail investors made risky bets. > > Its sales last year declined 27 per cent to $3.82 billion, though net income shot up to $131.3 million versus $6.7 million in 2023.

I know Costco is American owned but these two Kirkland made in Canada products are made in Canada options for those that want the convenience of pods.

I haven’t seen any mention of these Kirkland laundry packs before, they are labeled as made in Canada from imported ingredients. I know that sounds worse than just “made in Canada” but that’s likely what “made in Canada” means on many products, otherwise they’d specify Canadian ingredients.

See our entire listing of made in Canada detergents at ShopCanadianStuff.ca note that several of the Canadian owned brands sell laundry and dishwasher pods that aren’t identified as made in Canada.

I'm looking to get some custom-molded ear plugs to block wind noise while riding on the highway.

Two Canadian companies were at the last motorcycle show: "Safe & Sound" out of Sherwood Park, AB; and "HearSmart Solutions" out of Surrey, BC.

Both look good, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with or recommendations for either company. Or another option, for that matter.

Whatcha got for me, Lemmy?

I'm learning Spanish and want to support Canada. A google search didn't turn up any Canadian language learning sites. Babbel is German owned so would be okay. Does anyone know of Canadian-owned sites?

There might be some changes that could improve it further:

  • ~~Remove Brave~~
  • ~~Maybe add Signal; It's easier than Element, but it's also centralized~~
  • Stop suggesting Linux Mint specifically
  • Recommend Hosted Nextcloud
  • ~~Add GrapheneOS~~
  • Maybe add Delta chat
  • ~~Maybe remove Bluesky~~
  • ~~Remove Stremio and add Jellfyin (even though it's selfhosted and not a direct equivalent)~~
  • ~~Add ente because Immich is selfhosted~~
  • ~~Add aurora~~
  • ~~Add SearxNG~~
  • Add SimpleX
  • Add lichess
  • Add pCloud

Any other suggestions?
