Bullet In The Head - Rage Against The Machine

Written by:Rage Against The Machine

This time the bullet cold rocked ya yeah

A yellow ribbon instead of a swastika

Nothing proper about ya propaganda

Fools follow rules when the set command ya

Said it was blue when ya blood was read yeah

That's how you got a bullet blasted through ya head

Blasted through ya head blasted through ya head

I give a shout out to the living dead

Who stood and watched as the feds cold centralized

So serene on the screen he was mesmerized

Cellular the phones sounding a death tone

Corporations cold turn ya to stone before ya realize

They load the clip in omnicolour

Said they pack the 9 they fire it at prime time

The sleeping gas every home was like alcatraz

And mutha f**kas lost their minds

Just victims of the in house drive by

They say jump you say how high yeah

Just victims of the in house drive by

They say jump you say how high

Jumping sheld off

Yeh just cream for

Just victims of the in house drive by

They say jump you say how high yeah

Just victims of the in house drive by

They say jump you say how high

Checka checka check it out

Load load the clip wow each other

Said they pack the 9 they fire it at prime time

The sleeping gas every home was like alcatraz

And mutha f**kas lost their minds

No escape from the mass mind rape

Play it again jack and then rewind the tape

And then play it again and again and again

Until ya mind is locked in

Believing all the lies that they're telling ya

Buying all the products that they're selling ya

They say jump and ya say how high

Ya brain dead you got a f**king bullet in ya head

Just victims of the in house drive by

They say jump you say how high yeah

Just victims of the in house drive by

They say jump you say how high

Ya standing in line believing the lies

Ya bowing down to the flag ya got a bullet in ya head

Am i standing in line am i believing the lies

I'm bowing down to the flag i got a bullet in my head

Bullet in ya head bullet in ya head

Bullet in ya head bullet in ya head

A bullet in ya head a bullet in ya head

A bullet in ya head a bullet in ya head

A bullet in ya head a bullet in ya head

A bullet in ya head a bullet in ya head

A bullet in ya head a bullet in ya head

A bullet in ya head you gotta bullet in your f**king head

Sepultura - Territory (m.youtube.com)
submitted 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) by kora to c/[email protected]

Territory" (1993) by Sepultura is a raw critique of land disputes, propaganda, and dehumanization in conflict zones—particularly resonant with the Israel-Palestine struggle. The lyrics expose how ideology weaponizes geography. Over 30 years later, enduring its relevance.

Unknown man
Speaks to the world
Sucking your trust
A trap in every word

War for territory
War for territory

Choice control
Behind propaganda
Poor information
To manage your anger

War for territory
War for territory

Dictators' speech
Blasting off your life
Rule to kill the urge
Dumb assholes' speech

Years of fighting
Teaching my son
To believe in that man
Racist human being
Racist ground will live
Shame and regret
Of the pride
You've once possessed

War for territory
War for territory

Lyrics:

Us and Them
And after all we're only ordinary men
Me and You
God only knows it's not what we would choose to do

‘Forward’, he cried from the rear and the front rank died
And the General sat and the lines on the map
Moved from side to side

Black and Blue
And who knows which is which and who is who
Up and Down
But in the end it's only round and round and round

Haven't you heard it's a battle of words the poster bearer cried
Listen son, said the man with the gun
There's room for you inside.

‘Well, I mean, they're gonna kill ya, so like, if you give 'em a quick sh...short, sharp shock, they don't do it again.
Dig it? I mean he got off light, 'cause I could've given him a thrashin' but I only hit him once.
It's only the difference between right and wrong, innit? I mean good manners don't cost nothing, do they? Eh?’

Down and Out
It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about
With, Without.
And who'll deny it's what the fightings all about

Out of the way, it's a busy day
I've got things on my mind
For want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died

"The Creator makes but one demand
Peace and happiness through all the lands..."

The social and political upheavals of the 1960s have been cited as a major factor in the emergence of a new stylistic trend in jazz, with a very different emphasis to the forms of the music which emerged earlier. Many of the artists involved in the making of this new music, variously called "free jazz", "the new thing", or "energy music", recorded for the Impulse! label. Ashley Kahn writes that several musicians, often those who had either played with or been influenced by John Coltrane, such as his widow Alice Coltrane, Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders, and Leon Thomas, began exploring new thematic and musical ideas, often associated with non-western religious and musical traditions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karma_(Pharoah_Sanders_album)

According to Ben Ratliff of The New York Times, Thomas had begun his career "as a straight blues-jazz singer" with a "stout tenor voice", but by the mid-1960s, he "had begun to spend time with young jazz musicians who were looking to Africa, the East and meditation for musical material … Thomas developed his ululating singing style, which has been compared to African pygmy and American Indian singing techniques and which he later called 'soularphone.' He believed that his ancestors had given him his elastic throat articulation, he said, and henceforth always used it.

This is a song in two parts: the intro and the outro have pro-war call and return gang vocals, but the meat of the song is very clearly anti-war. I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of the juxtaposition was, but it works IMO.

Got one chance (infiltrate them)
Get it right (terminate them)
The Panzers will (permeate them)
Break their pride (denigrate them)

And their people (retrograde them)
Typhus (deteriorate them)
Epidemic (devastate them)
Take no prisoners (cremate them)
(Burn!)

Going to war, give 'em hell
D-Day, next stop Normandy
Beginning of the end
We know how to, and sure as shit, we'll win

"War is peace", sure man
A retreat for the damned
A playground for the demented
A haven for those who walk this world
Bereft of heart and soul

Love and war, they say all is fair
Take his life, but won't take his hair
Your body parts, your country spares
By the way son, here's your wheelchair

He once had to be all he could be
Now he's nothing for no one, nowhere to see
Funny thing, he's like you and me
It's a funny thing, a funny thing
Tears streak his solemn stare
Abandoned for wreckage, nobody cares

No one knew what would happen there
No one spoke, no one even cared
Don't ask what you can do for your country
Ask what your country can do for you

Take no prisoners (take no shit)
Take no prisoners (take no shit)
Take no prisoners (take no shit)
Take no prisoners (take no-)
(Shit)

Today I killed, he was just a boy
Eight before him, I knew them all
In the fields a dying oath
I'd kill them all to save my own

Cut me free, bleed with me, oh no
One by one, we will fall, down down
Pull the plug, end the pain, run an' fight for life
Hold on tight, this ain't my fight

Deliver me from this war
It's not for me it's because of you
Devil's instant; my eternity
Obey to kill to save yourself

Cut me free, bleed with me, oh no
One by one, we will fall, down down
Pull the plug, end the pain, run an' fight for life
Hold on tight, this ain't my fight

"I envy the 9 lives that gave me hell
My path made up by their torn bodies
Man to man, soldier to soldier, dust to dust
Call me a coward but I can't take it anymore"

They wait for me far back home
They live with eyes turned away
They were the first ones to see
They are the last ones to bleed

"The ultimate high as all beautiful dies
A ruler's tool, a priest's excuse, a tyrant's delight
I alone, the great white hunter
I'll march till the dawn brings me rest

10th patriot at the gallows' pole!"

Cut me free, bleed with me, oh no
One by one, we will fall, down down
Pull the plug, end the pain, run an' fight for life
Hold on tight, this ain't my fight
Cut me free, bleed with me, oh no
One by one, we will fall, down down
Pull the plug, end the pain, run an' fight for life
Hold on tight, this ain't my fight

Terror cleared the skyline and anger clouded judgement, So they spent a thousand nighttimes in the desert fighting something, That they couldn’t find, that made it something that they couldn’t fight, Left us lamenting all the wrongs that they couldn’t right, This is for the second time, we’ve been here before, From Vietnam to Saddam, we always needing a war, Neo-conservatives rose up like Viet Cong, Their fingers on the trigger we won’t be here for long, They killed MLK and they named a day after him, They killed JFK and named an airport after him, Some guy shot a monster called Reagan so he could bone, A girl named Jodie Foster, if only he’d known, We tested nukes in the atmosphere, the sea and the dirt, And they tested all these missiles just to see if they worked, Now France got ‘em, Russia got ‘em, India and Pakistan, Korea want ‘em, States want ‘em pointed at the Taliban, Iran and Afghanistan, sands of the Arab lands, Orders from portable commands in armored caravans, Internet, 3g cellular phones, Serial killers built mini-cells in their homes, And we had Manson, Bundy, Gacy, Son of Sam, Macarena, superman, chicken dance, running man, Generation X and Generation Y, And the generation next will degenerate and die, Cos we got holes in the Ozone that we put there ourselves, Now the poles are a no-go, earths cooking itself, And we can’t look at ourselves so we got saline, botox, Eighteen, fake tits, nineteen detox, Don’t stop, get it, get it, can’t afford it get it credit, Buy it, spend it, try it, getting fat? Then you better shed it, Ab-Swing, Blue Blocker, Tupac or Biggie, East coast, west coast, Fat Joe or Fifty, Thatcher the shifty iron lady, Tony Blair, A princess died, some say cos she got Dodi there, Whitlam, Keating, Hawke and a promise, Of no children in poverty, wish that could have been honest, We had Abbot and Costello, right wing overlords, Promises and children, they threw ‘em both overboard,

Overwrought refugees thrown to a group home, Or jailed for the crime of looking for a new home, Elvis died, Hendrix died, Lennon died, genocide, In Africa, Serbia, Cambodia, pesticides, Bio-toxins, chemical warfare, All’s fair in love and war, more work for the pallbearer, More terror, more unjust search and seizures, A tidal wave came and claimed the coast of Indonesia, Quakes in Iran, Japan and California, Greenhouse gas turned the world into a sauna, The trauma of mortars, martyrs, slaughters, Of partners, mourners, fathers and daughters, They chased us, caught us, numbered us to sort us, Raped us, scorned us, to break us they bought us, Third world kidneys for captains of industry, Uprising in the street, corruption in the ministry, A blowjob brought about the fall of a dynasty, And MP3’s saw the fall of an industry, Doubled population, halved accommodation, Carved up resources and we starved the poorer nations, Beirut, Chechnya, all hell, Broke loose, Berlin, nineteen eighty nine man, the wall fell, Cold war ended but that didn’t stop more shells, Waco lit up the sky like burning oil wells, A world laid waste with addiction, Tell Orwell truth’s always stranger than fiction, Big Brother’s on closed circuit TV and on cable, Reality’s now scripted, celebrity’s for sale, Jeopardy and jail, seized, deposed, Remedies and penalties for failed CEO’s.

We had the Enron collapse, and white-collar crime, Investors they were taxed, a dollar for a dime, The blue chip companies and blue-sky mines, We no longer choose sides we choose sidelines, Rich bleeding the kind, blind leading the blind, And history repeats, no competing with time, Gasses eating the minds of the vets that they bring home, The plague of Agent Orange, Gulf War Syndrome, Soldiers sent home, posttraumatic stress leave, STD’s cos the sleeve ain't sexy, AIDS shook the eighties, grim reaper with a bowling ball, Metallica, kill ‘em, let god scold ‘em all, The Guildford Four, Chicago Seven, Mumia, Mandela, Oceans Eleven, Half past twelve on Friday the Thirteenth, Dawn of the Dead a Nightmare On Elm Street, Weapons free environment, war zone, phone home, Melanoma grow as we soak in the ozone, Home-grown, Hydro, Cocaine, Nitro, Werewolf in London, American Psycho, Cyclones, bushfires, Bush firing Scuds, Baby boomers, Woodstock, what happened to the love? What happened to the cubs? They fed ‘em to the wolves, Set a trial for pedophiles, they let ‘em in the schools, Set ‘em on the students, turned ‘em on the kids, And everyone responsible should burn for what they did, And if they try to deny then an eye for an eye, The government and church on which we try to rely, Both rob us till it hurts chasing lie after lie, Like astronauts chasing a pie in the sky, They landed on the moon but can’t seem to return there, Makes some question if they ever really were there, And if they were there now and they looked back, Could we look them in the eye, could we look back?

Cos when we look back at what we have done, Can you believe what we have become? As we walk into the sun, Can you believe what we have become? As we walk into the sun

Translated lyrics:

For a lifetime we lay in soft beds
In plush and down, in velvet and silk
We knew no evil, there were only the nice
Neutered sheep in the luxury pasture
Understanding and consideration, feeling, boredom
No one struck, everyone loved each other
We ate only porridge and boiled vegetables
Our muscles slackened, our eyes became dull

But the misery has an end
Today you can rise up
Excitement, action, adventure
And a clear goal in life

Off to war!
The time has come, they're sending us off
Off to war!
The mood is good, expectations are high
Off to war!
The weapons are sharp, the hatred is stirred up
Off to war!
Now it's time to bomb

Gone is the era of diplomats
Of compromise and debate
Gone are the days of human rights
We don't care, we have guns
Give up, you pathetic apostles of peace
No one believes your conspiracy theories
The people are ready and waiting for orders
And you are known as freaks and chaotic people

Tanks roll, bombs fall
Everything flies around our ears
But we believe and we fight
Only those who doubt have lost

Off to war!
Take your helmet, your boots, your rifle
Off to war!
No more doubts, no more hesitation, no more waiting
Off to war!
Obedience, respect, determination
Off to war!
This is your time!

Off to war!
Against the enemy!
Into battle!
Give your lives!

The dust settles, it gets quiet and cold
Everything is broken, but it's not over for a long time yet

Yes, we'll burn everything down
Climb over rubble and corpses
Because death is part of life
Old flesh must give way to new flesh

Off to war!
The time has come, they send us off
Off to war!
The mood is good, expectations are high
Off to war!
The weapons are sharp, the hatred is stirred up
Off to war!
Now it's time to transpose!

Let's go to war!
Show us the enemy and we'll attack!
Let's go to war!
Country against country, man against man!
Let's go to war!
Your rage, your anger, let it all out!
Let's go to war!
