As a Windows user that dabbles in Mac but is definitely not an expert, I get seriously frustrated when I try to share my screen in ??? meeting product only to have to adjust permissions and be told I probably need to restart the app (in the middle of a meeting). I've found other minor nags with MacOS along the same lines. They are trivial at best, but can be seriously interrupting. I agree with the high security defaults, but the UX could be improved.

Shit I'm way past that. I'm ready to watch the world burn so people are forced to deal with the consequences of their treachery toward this planet and her people. Complacency needs to be eliminated.

Responding to you because you're the most verbal here so far. I recently upgraded from an m1 pro 14" to an m2 max 16". Leagues above anything else on the market, IMO. But people still seem to be sticking to the M1 praise. Is it just market lag, or is there something about the M1 specifically?

Rules are good and all but suppressing any and all dissenting voices on the basis of dissent alone is just creating echo chambers which leads to people who can't or won't think critically.

Not to mention refactoring support...

There seems to be a trend of new (old) developers who find that strong typing is nothing more than a nuisance.

History repeating itself in the IT world. I don't wanna be around to support the systems that inherit these guys.

Rider is awesome - totally understated even if JetBrains does have a big fan base. If you'll notice, most non-MS video bloggers use it, and for good reason.

Rather than be used for war, they’ll be used for threats of violence and propaganda

Surveillance is the word you're looking for. Take all those NSA pipelines and run them through an AI and BAM, you've got your "terrorists".

AI will be downfall of our technological society, but not because of killer robots and malevolent systems. It's going to make everyone completely and utterly incompetent at everything in life.

IDEs need to be constantly updated to keep up with language / framework changes. Your subscription pays for that continued work.

If you really want, you can buy the 1 year and cancel after it's up - you get a perpetual license for the version you're on at the time it expires, but I really don't get why that would be a good thing.
