Remove the current board, spez, and pretty much every executive. Roll back the decision, issue an apology to all users, undo the bans issued to protesting accounts (except awkward turtle), and kiss my hairy ass.

Yeah, I don't turn my vpn off, period.

Not that it matters. If this instance gets enough fake accounts just to game voting in this single community, we're fucked. You get that many fakes and moderation becomes a full time job. Lemmy doesn't have the tools to cope with it on a moderator level (and from what the admin of pond of the bot attacked instances said, the admin tools are weak as well).

This just makes voting a pain in the ass. Add in a rule about writing a coherent sentence along with your vote, and you'll reduce fakes without the need to leave the app/page, or deal with VPN usage invalidating the ability to participate.

As a pretty staunch 2A guy, this is not an issue that needs to change. Yeah, it has flaws, but they're worth it. If someone has been able to convince a judge to issue an order like that, it's just fine to suspend your 2a rights temporarily.

Subscriptions for the apps just reward the bad behavior of reddit

Legit, it's better here despite the rough edges of an early stage of development. The very thing that makes there be a learning curve filters out the most annoying users, and the culture is fairly anti-asshole overall, so there's less toxicity overall. Not saying it's perfect, no human endeavor can be. But it's got the better aspects of reddit with a reduction in the worst parts.

In theory, it's an organic and flexible way to indicate bad actors and that that are healthy for a community. If you get the ranking system done right, it makes trolls and assholes easy to weed out of your usage, and let's you know there's community trust in someone.

Which has all kinds of flaws even without manipulation of the system because people are fucking dumb, and you can't always trust the majority. If you're a virologist on an antivax forum, your karma will be shit. But you'd still be a valuable person to have around, despite being a troll within that community.

And no, you can't totally negate any human systems from having that kind of perception flaws. Humans are dumb. At best, you could manually counter it, but that has flaws of its own.
