It's tricky and expensive securing the rights to musicals and some will never be available to the community. For those dreaming a dream of Les Mis at the local school, here's what it takes.

TL;DR: school writes and performs their own musicals. If you wrote it, you own the rights, so you don't have to worry about things like the cost for rights to perform a show, whether the rights are even able to be applied for at the time, and restrictions in the rights like not being allowed to film the show or make changes to the script.
