I'd also recommend https://lemmyverse.net/communities for finding new communities as it sorts by active users and other metrics. Set which instance you're on with the house button in the top right so all the links take you to the instance you're logged in on.

Been using mastodon regularly lately. Hopefully lemmy and mastodon grow into what early Reddit was like.
Happy to be here, thanks for the warm welcome!
Just come from Baconreader, thanks for the quick verification!
You can read and write everything everywhere with a single account, unless you can't.
Defederation is a thing. Your server probably doesn't interact with the whole fediverse. Check who blocks whom here: https://federation-checker.vercel.app/
ironically you posted this in one of the only major servers that isn't defederated from any other server x)
So why is this the top post in local and in all? Shouldn't I see a lot more non-Vlemmy posts in the all section?
Its because I pinned it so everyone will see it. Mainly For the new users.
Thank you! The switch had been smoother than I thought, once I get used to the change I plan on helping the community grow 👍
Glad to be here
Very well made chart, mark
So why use Vlemmy? What makes it better than the rest in your opinion?
0 blocked instances and it's a smaller general instance so less technical issues.
This decentralization is both the strength of the lemiverse but also what worry's me right now. I've seen post on other instances asking for sh.itjust.works to be defederalized just because it doesn't block other harmful instances.
Beehaw did a similar thing where they defederalized themselves from other large instances.
I really hope it doesn't, but if this continues then we'll just be left with a bunch of tiny, pointless forums.
I expect it will settle down once admins have some way to block individual communities intead of whole instances. I understand them wanting to moderate their All
feed, but the current approach harms users since it also affects Subscribed
feed.
wait. so If sh.itjust.works for example blocks vlemmy, does this mean, we can't see content there as well?
You will, they won't see anything from vlemmy.
okay that's a relief. Vlemmy is the best instance
Thank you for having us! Lemmy looks wonderful.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome, keeping everything running and all the helpful 'how to Lemmy' info! I feel right at home. 😊
This helps - thanks!
I would love to join your instance natively, but it still says registration application pending even after 4-5 days.
I understand that you guys are getting a ton of people coming in, so I'm fine with waiting in the queue. I'm just wanted to double check that my application wasn't lost in the mess.
There was a registration bug in one of the last rcs i was running so I would say its worth reapplying
Is there a way to hide pinned posts from all in Memmy?
Funny and informative.
Thank you!
