It's funny that the NYT publishes a "doctors suggest" article on McConnell. Finally they are slowly acknowledging what we've known for a very long time. If it seems the GOP is lying - they are.

Mitch McConnell May Be Experiencing Small Seizures, Doctors Suggest

While several possibilities were suggested, including mini-strokes, doctors said that the spells appeared most consistent with focal seizures, which are electrical surges in one region of the brain.

[...]

Neurologists said they could not rule out other possible explanations for Mr. McConnell’s episodes. Dr. Gavin Britz, a neurosurgeon at Houston Methodist, said he would want to exclude Parkinson’s disease, which can also cause freezing episodes.

de-encyclopedia — Focal seizures can occur for a number of benign reasons, such as lacking dietary sodium, hormone changes, and insomnia. More concerning root causes include transient ischemic attacks, brain tumors, and degenerative brain diseases like Alzheimer's or frontotemporal dementia.

de-logic [Easy: Failure] — Mitch McConnell is in the prime of his life. There's no way it's anything other than insomnia.

Focal seizures can occur for a number of benign reasons... insomnia.

Oh - that's great. I have terrible insomnia. And now I have yet one more thing to keep me awake.

de-volition — A lot of things can theoretically cause other things. Your insomnia isn't likely to trigger a seizure — and McConnell's seizures aren't likely to be triggered by insomnia.

One of the top comments...

The United States is beginning to resemble the USSR in the 1980s, led by aging and decrepit figures that almost have to be propped up at public events. I don't want to say ageist here, but there really is a point with any human being where physical and mental infirmities render decision making unpredictable and unreliable. The problem is that when we reach that point, we become very poor judges of our capabilities, and worse, react badly when even the people close to us tell is it's time to retire.

This isn't a liberal/conservative judgment, it's the harsh realities of aging. When you have someone as important as the Senate minority leader just freezing up due to "mini-seizures", there ought to be a process in place to remove that person, and not leave it up to them and their own medical advisers to make the call.

“Capitalism is when communism.” Gorbachev was the USSR’s youngest premier.

I hope for a swift and final end to his seizures.

I hope they're debilitating and painful and take something away from him he can never get back every time, and his departure from the world is characterized by agony and involuntary erosion of his ego

Damn, and this is a country where stuff like epilepsy can be used as a way to quietly fire someone or deny them employment. This old buckaroo really bucked the system.
