This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

this is the tech bro version of 'if everyone just smoked weed/did acid we'd have no wars'

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This reminds me of a video I can't find. As I remember it, it was a bunch of Anglos using VR to "experience" what it's like for children working in mines in Africa. No surprise, most of them reacted badly and/or tapped out.

Then at the end they asked the people what they thought VR should be developed, could make people more empathetic, etc. and they all were in agreement. Then it turns out the kids were mining materials for tech components like the VR goggles and the people were still in agreement. agony-deep anglo-burn

Please let us know if you find that vid again

I know it isn't him but that sounds like a boyboy video, only darker than usual

Okay, hear me out.

In exchange for an end to the war, both Putin and Zelensky can issue one another exclusive commemorative NFTs. This will bind them in friendship and also create a real financial incentive for lasting peace.

zelensky-pain My apes, all gone!

putin-wink

Are you a bad enough dude to turn the Russian President into a little girl?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago

I don't feel comfortable as a top I'm sorry

When I say "bazinga brain" that linked headline is EXACTLY what I mean. Put it in the UlyssesT slang dictionary with that as a given example. disgost

Also, knowing how techbro creeps tend to think and act, chances are that any sufficiently advanced VR treats would just be used by those techbro creeps to get off to human suffering from new and exciting temporary perspectives, the same way they like to visit impoverished areas for short bits at a time to get off to the misery, like that 90s movie Strange Days (CW: SV if you look that up).

Come to think of it, in a lower tech way, THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED.

I mean, the two transwomen I know IRL were absolutely unsufferable before coming out

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

About me:

absolutely unsufferable before coming out

I mean I still am but not as much as I was

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

On the other hand, the two transguys I know IRL have always been easy going albeit "the odd ones" before coming out

Eeey I'm doing a misogyny ova' here chefs-kiss

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

If this was a real thing, it would absolutely be turned into the Torment Nexus.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

The truly sad part is, is that this is one of the most respectable mainstream newspapers in Germany. The bar really is that low.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

Me, sneaking up behind Putin to catch him off his guard and put the VR goggles on him.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

Dibs on being Catboy Prigozhin when we do this

Forced empathization treatment for class war mongers:

You will experience a day in the shoes of a landlord until you display considerable empathy to the propertied class, brutish scum

Now put on the glasses and pay your rent

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

or we could do real gulags and make them do real labor

every retail store a gulag staffed by former PMCs, petit bourgeois, and bourgeois. and then we can pay former retail workers to be as rude to them as they were

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I'm imagining someone sitting on a stool while people stock shelves or whatever, and just insulting them every few minutes with a scowl on their face.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

This particular obvious grift hits me as a weird mixture of sinister and pathetic

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Trans Putin. Trans Putin. Trans Putin.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

trans women gonna plug into the matrix for this shit tho

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I remember being absolutely fascinated by something like this in a ted talk years and years ago, like 2008 or 2010? Didn't crack my egg though :(

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I get the totally normal cis male urge of playing Virt-A-Mate in VR as a girl being pummeled by a man with his hip thrusts synced to the fuck machine positioned below me.

VR technology really is something.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Smh reposting my screenshots from Discord

And yeah, this is a perfect mix of liberal idealism, technoutopianism, grifting and clickbait from what's considered by the libs as the most respectable newspaper in Germany.
