Summary

A Romanian appeals court found significant flaws in a human trafficking and rape case against Andrew Tate, his brother Tristan, and two Romanian women.

The court deemed parts of the indictment unclear, excluded evidence, and ordered prosecutors to amend or withdraw the case within five days.

Key issues included improperly explained charges, inadmissible witness statements, and vague asset confiscation details.

The ruling was called a “monumental victory” by Tate’s lawyers.

A second case involving trafficking minors and money laundering remains ongoing, while British authorities seek the Tates’ extradition for unrelated allegations.

It really is amazing that we're not only in the era of "total social and environmental decline" but we're also in the era of "the absolute worst fucking people on earth get away with everything."

“the absolute worst fucking people on earth get away with everything.”

They always have done, we just get to hear about them more often now as outrage gets page views/ad revenue.

For a very long time we had a robust system of public violence that prevented a lot of this. Not all of it, but a lot.

Back in the day if you were a sex pest and an asshole, chances were good that someone who lived in your community would either be firmly escorting you out of the local area never to return, or digging you a shallow hole back behind the churchyard.

Now if you were a royal sex pest then that's a different story, but guys like Tate? He's just some dude. In a past age someone would have broken 33 bones in his arms, legs and face and he might have even learned something from it.

That's not as true as you want it to be, sadly.

People who abuse others tend to be very good at manipulating themselves into positions of power and authority in other ways too, and abusive people are often a product of the society and people they were raised by.

Conservative religious societies really aren't historically (or currently) known for treating their women and children well, and before very recently, conservative and religious was the default everywhere.

Also you might not be old enough to know just how much more common and socially ignored child abuse used to be, even 30 years ago. Spousal abuse too. Women and children have only recently gotten legal rights in many western countries.

It’s a good thing all the shittiest people on earth are all having their best day all at the same time…

And by good thing I mean absolutely awful.

Let's just keep him in jail for the next 25 years while this all gets worked out.

I thought that his appeal on the blatant corruption in Romania would make sure he'd be made an example of.

I wonder if Musk put some pressure on the courts behind the scenes.

He almost looks like he has a chin in that pic.
