This is my first ever attempt at ricing. How did I do? Do you have any suggestions?

I believe it's slang for customization that comes from the world of modding Japanese cars.

now just need to replace that VSCode with a properly riced Neovim

Yes, I am working on it. VSCode is kind of a memory/cpu hog.

You may want to check out LazyVim for a painless setup, Elijah Manor has a nice video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N93cTbtLCIM

Thanks for the recommendation, I will look into it.

Adding to the suggestion (and as a recent neovim user) it's good to do the tutorial (typing ":Tutor") on a "naked vim" before using a ready-made setup. I'm using AstroNvim and enjoying it so far, the custom shortcuts clicked with me

Yes, your 8-core processor with 32GB of RAM probably can't handle running it for long!

Seriously though, as much as I despise bloat, what's the point of having that power and not using it?

Nothing inherently wrong with an extremely capable IDE like VS Code, other than using VSCodium instead to have a 100% open source solution.

this is exactly the reasoning that led to the bloated UIs we see today

I totally agree. Some of the most brilliant programmers alive use VSCode. Building my Neovim config has made me a better programmer, but I'm still a chimp with a waffle next to someone like JT.

I shuddered at the mere thought of vim. why would you do that to yourself
