Holy crap this thing is pretty. Ty
This only because fossify hangs on my photos anymore. Black thumbnails, etc. I've cleared both cache and storage then uninstalled and reinstalled. No difference.
Shame otherwise I like fossify better.
Update it from the github. They released some bug in the version in the repos, and the fix hadn't yet made it there yet. At least that was the case a couple weeks ago. Updating from github fixed that problem for me immediately.
Thanks. I'll add it to obtanium and give it a go.
I'm on 1.2.1. Turns out F-Droid has this version as of 9/28.
This does appear to fix it. Thanks!
Nice but can't show hidden folders ( like .hidden) it seems
Does it support photo editing? I mostly use drawing to make some notes sometimes.
Aves Libre.
I used to use Simple Gallery and later Fossify Gallery. Now that I have a device new enough for Accrescent to work on it I discovered Aves Gallery Libre.
It's much nicer and polished in many ways but I do miss some features sometimes
The Immich app.
Although since it doesn't really function as a full gallery app yet, so I have Fossify gallery installed as a backup to open images in via intent.
I only learned about Aves today and trying it out for the same purpose, I think I like its picture viewer better.
Looks like I have both fossil and Aves and use them interchangeably.
Now. What about open source camera apps? They all kinda suck. I'm using Libre Camera but wish there was a better alternative.
Try open camera.
I use Google Camera mod. I don't care that it's not FOSS because it isn't connected to the internet.
"Gallery" from the F-store.
~~If this is the one you're referring to, they have a bunch of other no internet required, no ads, privacy friendly, foss apps.~~

Don't use these.
The Fossify suite (like the gallery app that was linked to in the OP) was forked from this. Simple Mobile had been bought out by an ad company or something last year, so the community moved onto Fossify. Note how Simple Gallery has not been updated in over a year, and was removed from F-Droid.
Oh so we should switch to Fossify. Good to know.
Nice. Thanks for the info.
Don't use those! They used to be good, got bought out, and they're shady as fuck now.
The Fossify one in the original post is the fork of those that stayed good.
I use fossify gallery and it's nice in some ways but annoying in others. I don't feel like trying to switch but it could do some things differently.
Seems nice, but also how on earth do you visualise a specific folder? I'm mildly interested in viewing all photos, downloads etc in one go.
Edit: it filters by folders, but only one level deep? Very nice otherwise.
I'm still using QuickPic but would appreciate something better. Simple/Fossify seems to have similar features but is slower on my phone.
Fossify is the latest and maintained. Simple apps are no longer maintained and thir latest versions are no longer open source
yeah ik, i meant simple and fossify both have similar features as quickpic but is just slower for me.
Fossify too
Immich mostly since it's there to handle my backups anyways. Otherwise just the stock one on my S21.
