I think it's generally accepted now that the Blue Jays front office intends to 'retool' for 2025, as opposed to doing a full on investing-in-the-future (ie prospects) approach - one that could potentially still involve signing Vladdy long-term. This, to me, sounds like a bad idea. My thinking, in turn, was inspired by listening to Blake Murphy and Jonah Birenbaum on Blue Jays Talk today. It seems like this season and last we've realized that the front office didn't get enough hitting. It seems like they're probably on track to repeat that next year, as they've got a lot of work to do to make the team competitive next year. Vladdy and Bo's contracts are up next year too. 'Retool for 2025' seems shortsighted to me. I hope next year isn't like this year (in terms of realizing you're a selloff team mid-season) but worse :/
They said on Sportsnet that per Ken Rosenthal Danny Jansen has been traded to the Bo Sox. Who's gonna catch next year lol?
From the broadcast on Wednesday the 24th (2nd game of the Rays series).
Could you imagine if - based on this - they went to another player, say Bo, and they said "gee, a different hairstyle might be good after the results with Vladdy. How about some braids in your hair?". lol!
KK to the Dodgers
IKF to Pirates per Mark Feinsand
Trevor Richards to the Twinkies per Ken Rosenthal
Justin Turner to the Mariners per Jeff Passan, reported on Jays TV broadcast
Yusei Kikuchi to the Astros for their 2nd ranked prospect, who's a pitcher
Apparently we fleeced the astros on this one
Yeah that does seem to be the opinion around the league. It's also the best haul we got back amongst the deadline deals. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out on both sides - will the trade look as lopsided in the Jays favour down the road as it does now? I'll miss kooch; I hope he's happy the rest of the season in Houston
