I’ve never seen something as unhinged as Project 2025. I mean it, it sounds like a shitty “evil plan” cooked on 4chan, but it’s fucking real. Insane.

[–] [email protected] 60 points 4 months ago

It’s not just real it’s their actual political strategy. This isn’t fringe shit, this is what they will do when they take office.

4chan has several porn and LGBT boards. this is on conservatism.

[–] [email protected] 36 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Conservatives consume tons of porn. They just feel guilt about it afterwards.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 4 months ago

It's like one of those idiots came up with this stupid idea and now none of the other morons can call this out because they would have to admit that they are watching porn.

Like the emperor's new clothes but in politics.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

They feel guilty about it and lash out on other people to make themselves feel better about it.

If we're talking about American politics in our lifetime, yeah this is tops. But it's not history's craziest politics by a long shot

[–] [email protected] 32 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Hear that everyone, it could be worse

Thanks for the enlightening framing. When they’re rounding up people they don’t like we should tell them it’s ok, it’s been worse

Nobody fucking cares. This isn’t some academic exercise to rank crazy times. This is the very real political strategy of a party about to take power in the US. This view from nowhere shit is so exhausting.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 4 months ago (12 children)

You mistake me: I think it's so bad people should leave if they can, or revolt en masse. I just also like talking about history.

Project 2025 wants to:

  • Outlaw pornography
  • Outlaw abortion
  • Outlaw homosexuality
  • Eliminate all major checks on presidential power. Say goodbye to the system of checks and balances
  • Replace many federal workers with those who are loyal only to the president

www.defeatproject2025.org breaks it down by topic, also highly suggest John Oliver's segment on it

[–] [email protected] 33 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Well, they've already made progress on point 4

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

And one! Texas and shit taking first steps by requiring state id verification.

That’s how they do things, just enough to get the foot in the door, move the goalposts and repeat

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Replace many federal workers with those who are loyal only to the president

This is the key point that actually makes all this possible. From the wiki

It proposes reclassifying tens of thousands of merit-based federal civil service workers as political appointees in order to replace them with loyal conservatives to further the objectives of the next Republican president.

"Tens of thousands". There is absolutely not enough young republicans in the nation to replace that many federal workers. The outcome if they fired them anyways would be orders of magnitude worse than the De-Ba'athification of Iraq. Its declaring class war on Northern Virginia and its a fight the GOP would lose.

Delete terms that deprive of first amendment rights.

Bit of an oxymoron isn't it?

[–] [email protected] 29 points 4 months ago

For fascists, freedom of speech equals saying slurs.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 4 months ago

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

In this case, the law being freedom of speech, the protection being to say what they want and the binding being to prohibit others from curtailing that. Naturally, the push for inclusive language is part of a movement to curtail that freedom and needs to be reversed and pushed back against.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

That's called doublespeak

No because every conservative either doesn’t know about it or pretends it isn’t as bad as it is, which they rationalize by making sure not to look at it too closely.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 4 months ago (3 children)

"It only hurts the people I don't like" and "I would be exempt from this".

I have no idea why any immigrant or Hispanic would want this. He's directly targeting all of them. There are no exceptions, there's no points you get. This is his stated platform

I never thought the leopard would eat my face!

I have a gay friend that loves Trump, I tried to explain this to him but he got mad at me

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

I'm a disabled person, who voted Fidesz in 2010, and my face got eaten by the leopards. Due to the nature of my disability, I won't receive any help, I'm barred from driving cars thus barred from many local jobs. Those who can are re-examined every few years, and even amputees are body-searched sometimes for "tied-up limbs", and are preferred to instead seek some job which is specifically made for the disabled, which thanks to local version of ableism, is largely something specialized for the intellectually disabled, and the job descriptions often read like they were lifted from those godawful ableist jokes.

Literally just yesterday I posted about it in my family’s political group chat and my older sister said, and I quote:

“even though I lean left, I'm actually glad that conservatives have a playbook! Why? because Trump's first term presidential transition (2017) was totally bungled... he needs a list of people that he can appoint from, so that these agencies don't just fall apart… Don't kid yourself, Biden's team and Obama's team and the democrats overall definitely have their own playbook and their list of potential appointees. They just don't have to crowdsource theirs!”

cue insane Charlie Kelly screams

Narrator: She did not actually lean left, but instead very far right.

my family’s political group chat

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

One member got upset that we were discussing politics in the family group chat so much in 2020 (read: we were bashing Donald Trump and his fucking idiocy too much) and insisted we move the conversation elsewhere

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

would it be better to have two trump terms, back to back, or to make a biden sandwich and have a break between the terms?

i worry that if trump comes back from the dead he might do crazier shit than if he was just re-elected and kept eating mcdonalds at the white house.

no way to know for sure, unless whoever built the universe made two copies just to test this out

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 months ago

I’m feeling confident that the 4 year break gave him and the actually smart people funding him and giving him ideas more time to come up with efficient plans

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

Hate to crowdsource appointees in my democracy

[–] [email protected] 28 points 4 months ago

We are so fucked

[–] [email protected] 24 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Ok ok ok....the porn is going too far and we all know that you all will be the ones suffering..so you need to work on your blatant lies.. Your own president paid to sleep with a porn star for heaven's sake

[–] boydster 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

He's not our president anymore! Yet!

[–] [email protected] 11 points 4 months ago

[–] [email protected] 19 points 4 months ago

but biden said umm. i can't tell the difference /s

[–] [email protected] 17 points 4 months ago

The US ruling class has been trying to do all of these things for decades. I’ve been treated like I’m insane for calling this out since well before Project 2025 was formulated. It’s honestly frustrating to see the amount of people finally coming around now that all their ducks are in a row and a second Trump term is looking more and more certain every day. Biden’s been literally doing Republican policies for his entire presidency and we haven’t heard a fucking peep from the liberal “activists” in my area about it.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago

already happening
