F-16 should've been delivered a long fucking time ago.

I'm assuming the US wants to ensure Ukrainian pilots are very well trained in the F-16 before it's delivered. It would be a big setback if a bunch of them were lost to enemy fire or to pilot error soon after arriving in country. But yeah, the F-16 has the potential to negate the attack helicopter problem.

That whole thing about Ukrainians not being capable of operating western military gear reeks to high heaven of some sort of orientalism but with an eastern-european flavor.
It's a very, very weird thing that I've noticed happening for a long, long time. And I definitely seen it occur when it comes to Ukraine as well.
It's the sort of feeling that Eastern Europeans are less-capable, not-as-good, not-as-smart, their tiny little brains can't really handle superior western tech, it's too complicated for them, it's not their fault.
That's how you get all sorts of high western figure being surprised that Ukrainians can actually learn to pilot superior western planes.
Similar thing happened years back when Bernie Sanders went
Today, people living in Bucharest, Romania have access to much faster Internet than most of the US. That's unacceptable and must change.
Those inferior eastern euros have better internet than us muricans! AH! The audacity! How dare they.
Sorry for the rant, it wasn't necessarily direct at you. Your comment just reminded me of that.
That sentiment may exist, but in this case it takes everyone a long time to gain proficiency in an F-16. Training a US fighter pilot takes years. I think, if anything, the US is very impressed with Ukrainian airmen at this point.
Isnt this what the gepard was designed for?
EDIT: Among the SHORAD provided by Western allies, the most important include the AN/TWQ-1 Avenger, 20 of which were supplied by the United States starting late last year, and which are armed with Stinger missiles, and the German-made Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG). Germany has supplied 52 Gepards, with further examples now due to be delivered from Jordanian stocks.
@Thorny_Thicket @Eqweytr Gepard can only help to a limited degree because the Russian KA-52s have ATGMs that have a significantly longer range than a Gepard.
Yes, but so far Germany has provided 52 vehicles which is probably not enough for the whole front.
Edit: Sorry didn't see your edit.
More AA units and the helicopters will start dropping like flies!
