Hi everyone,
I’m planning to do a NAS build with the Jonsbo N3 and have put together a build and have a few questions I’d appreciate feedback on from the experts in this group.
The build is here.
Questions
- Cooling. I’ve been considering a Noctua NH-U12S or a liquid cooler such as the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240. Dimensions wise, both look like they will fit. I’d prefer the liquid cooler but purely because I’ve not done a build with one before. Any thoughts from anyone who has used either?
- I’d like to add a 10Gbe NIC (Mellanox MCX-311A -XCAT) and also an LSI 9300-8i. There’s only one x16 slot but I’ve also come across PCI-e bifurcators to turn one X16 into two x8’s (such as this). Any thoughts on these and also where or how to confirm if the mainboard supports it? (I can’t see it anywhere online in product specs).
- The other option would be to use an NVME M2 to 6x SATA connector (this) instead and ditch the bifurcator and LSI card. Has anyone gone in this direction and was it stable/robust?
- Power. I *think* 500w is enough for this and 8x hard disks but I’d rather get more than less. I'm also not very knowledgeable on PSU's in general. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Many thanks in advance.
