I'm all for it and hopeful. For the first time I'm beginning to feel that there's a real chance that even the US could move towards a General Strike before too long in response to how drastically conditions are collapsing across the board.

Staff can take disciplinary action on offenses not listed in the rules when a community member's actions or general conduct creates a negative experience for another player and/or the community.
It is impossible to list every example or variation of the rules. It is also impossible to word everything perfectly. Players are expected to understand the intent of the rules and not attempt to "toe the line" or use loopholes to get around the intent of the rule.
If working full-time isn’t enough anymore to support yourself and your family, then what’s the point of working? Workers have been getting nickel-and-dimed for so long that there’s almost nothing left to take from us and people are barely surviving. Medieval peasant serfs in feudal society probably had more free time than we do nowadays.
They did.
And this is from 2013. The last line is particularly poignant.
Speaking of Congress, its members seem to be the only people in America getting as much down time as the medieval peasant. They get 239 days off this year.
Here here! May it grind things to a halt.
Do it, though I know the blame is going to be passed onto the workers and not the owners. People wanting better pay and working conditions are NOT the issues, it’s the owners trying to wait them out or dragging their feet on it.
Cool. Maybe if their job is so important, they should be getting paid better.
I'd imagine not having to work 10+ hours a day in what is functionally a mobile oven would also be helpful.
Not only that but almost every delivery driver I see is always kinda skipping or trotting when delivering packages just to keep up.
They either need to increase the workforce on their routes too. Same thing for the USPS in many places while not relying on part time 'contractors' who are just mailmen but not yet because they don't want to pay benefits lol.
Imagine the company putting cameras in the mobile ovens before air conditioning.
We proudly pay our employees a (1950s) liveable wage. They just need to stop wasting money on non-essentials like food, housing, and student debt.
Do it.
Agreed. (But wait till after my package gets here tonight).
"[Teamsters] said in the past that if there is a strike it will be the fault of the company for not stepping up and agreeing to the economic package being sought by the union despite having its earnings nearly double during the life of the current five-year contract."
I don't know what they're going for in the contract but at the bare minimum the employees doing the actual work need to see more money for that work. Best of luck Teamsters!
shit's been fucked for package delivery for a while now. Even before the pandemic was companies pushing more and more unreasonable delivery times for a more and more entitled consumer base. Then the pandemic just skyrocketed delivery demand, with those inflated expectations of unreasonable times. And that demand never went back down as everyone got accustomed to getting just fuckin everything delivered.
and the climate crisis is just the pressure lid on top, worsening work conditions on delivery drivers while also keeping more people indoors wanting deliveries. I really hope it all abruptly stops to put things in perspective.
Well that 7 billion dollars is certainly not coming out of my pocket so I say go for it. If I need something delivered and can't get it in a reasonable timeframe I guess I'll have to find a way to live with that. I do wonder if Biden would step in like he did with the rail workers though... anyone have a feel for that?
Fuck the economy. Fuck those rich bastards and strike if they don't give you exactly what you want and deserve for all the money you made them. Without you, their wealth doesn't exist.
I'm in. Freaking do it. We need to have some strikes.
So The Economy could collectively chip in and offer up to $7.0 billion in incentives to the workers not to engage in the stoppage and still come out ahead of the game.
Do ittttt. Get the railroad unions to join in too, considering what they got in their contract.
I don't work for UPS but, hell, I'll join in. I love seeing people finally stand up for their rights
Burn baby burn!
Make the execs cry yessss
Do it.
