Hrm... Ya know, you'd think the extensions would move off of GitHub after everything...
Probably, GitHub isn't a good place for this type of projects. youtube-dl, CloudStream both got nuked in the past with DMCA
Gitlab/gitea might be better. GH is getting more and more DMCAed.
Im not git savvy, so:
It's harder for other devs to discover your project when you use the other Git forges (e.g. Gitlab).
Arguably a positive in cases like this.
Probably not wrong. But it's a double edged sword, if Tachiyomi wasn't hosted on Github it's likely that it wouldn't have gotten this far.
did something happen to tachiyomi that I'm unaware of?
edit: it's not getting developed by the original devs anymore https://tachiyomi.org/news/2024-01-13-goodbye
Heads up to everyone, Mangayomi asks for "all files access" in Android, which is generally only reserved for default systems apps. And it keeps asking for it even if you say no and ignore the popup.
Neither Tachiyomi nor any other app has asked me this before. I'm going to caution against using Mangayomi due to this sketchy behavior from them.
Tachiyomi used to have that, but nowadays it only asks for access to one folder and does all its business in there.
They must have been many years ago because I've been on there since before covid and I don't remember that
Was recommended Dantotsu
Relies on an anilist account, and can be used for both anime and manga.
Does it support comics?
Don't think so
The standalone list doesn't mention it, but Neko can import the Tachiyomi backup, though only the Mangadex manga of course. It's also actually a Tachiyomi fork and was endorsed by them until Kakao struck AFAIK. Figured it was good to mention.
Tanks, i don't really read anime, only comics and didn't test that. I'll add it later.
I'm not really in the loop about Tachiyomi, except that I use it occasionally so can you explain to me the reason behind this post? Is something wrong with Tachiyomi, what are the benefits of switching to alternatives/forks here?

TLDR: a stupid Korean company sent a cease and desist to the Tachiyomi devs, they caved in and are ending the project
Thank you!
Just wondering if the Mandadex and Bato.to extensions work on these forks? Since this whole thing started off with those two getting delisted from Tachi.
They all use the same extension core
Awesome, thank you!
This is a great list. Thanks!
Thanks mate
Thanks mate 🏴☠️
This sucks. Fucking corpo greed, but I understand, no one small group could fight a conglomerate and prolly would have done the same as described. Best of luck to them.
I've setup the original Tachiyomi with the third-party repo so I can add new sources to J2K for now. Screw Caca-o entertainment.
That said, I've never heard of manwa before. I'm torn between deliberately pirating their work just to spite them, and not ever wanting to do anything with any of their works in any capacity, ever. I want the most efficient way possible to make them cry so I can drink their salty tears
Awesome! Thank you!
Worth mentioning: Anyone using TachiyomiJ2K (I use it for Surface Duo dual-screen support) or another fork with support who has some self-hosting prowess, there's always Suwayomi - It will let you "migrate" to a third-party sources repo even if your app doesn't support it, since it becomes your device's only local extension.
I am still using it for webtoons. How affected am I? Is this affecting only extenstions with manga?
The app and extensions will continue to work but won't be update, if something breaks won't be fixed.
Oh, ok, thanks for the summary
Lol no, this is everything, but the one who did it was a webtoon company, Kakao, you are the problem :P
Thanks for the info.
