Starfield at 7 seems a bit optimistic, even for paid advertising.

Why? Just because a loud corner of the internet has been convinced by click-farming YouTubers that it’s the worst game ever made, doesn’t reflect the reality that a lot of people enjoyed it.

Over 12 million players with an average playtime of 40 hours seems like a hit to me.

I played 0/50. I will see how they age and might give them a try in the future.

Few for me also, my most played were probably Vampire Survivors, Brotato, Stacklands, Slay the Spire, DotA2, 20 Minutes Till Dawn, Inscryption, Halls of Torment, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy, Yakuza 0.. I guess that's about it. Tried Starfield but didn't click with it, framerate is too slow and it's too fiddly.

Same. I almost got a few of them, but I never freed up enough time since I'm still playing through some other games. By the time I get to them, I'm sure the bugs will be patched and whatnot.

Of the ones on the list, the only ones I've played are pikmin 4, Mario Wonder, and fire emblem engage. They're all solid recommendations if you already knew you would like them as a result of their series.

That really doesn't work for me, because I love a good part of Fire Emblem (7, 8, Radiance, Echoes, Three Houses) and I really, really hate the other way the series has evolved (Awakening, Fates, Heroes).

I haven't got Engage because, frankly, it seems very much on the wrong side of the series to me.

I'm surprised how many games on the full list didn't actually release in 2023.

Yeah, they really should make a rule about that to make room for more great indies.

It's a popularity contest, lots of games with middling to bad scores. Also vampire survivors isn't even the best game in the micro genre, it's just the first (though it is a copy of a mobile game). Plenty other of better versions. Overall another mid list.

There are plenty I've had on my list for a while but never got round to, only seems fair if it's a most-played in 2023.
