In this instance, should we ban NSFL, hardcore gore content? I think it's not a problem since anyone can subscribe to the community they want but if the vast majority don't want it, we can ban it. Decisions must be made from the beginning.

Here's a StrawPoll link.

Edit: Looks like we are going to ban it. Commenters are right that we cannot currently list NSFW and NSFL content separately on the homepage. Since anyone can open an instance, we should let other people to open an instance on lemmynsfl.com. Also moderating these communities can be hard too. So it's okay.

I think it should be banned since, as of now, there is no way to hide gore by default.

Let's say I'm browsing the instance and choose to explore some new communities, so I turn on the local filter. I (and I think all the people who are not into gore, which I suppose is the majority) do NOT want, even by mistake, to see gore in my feed, especially if I'm looking for "normal" porn.

Yeah, I could block the communities, but this would mean finding them, interacting with them, and then blocking them, which is not something I want to do.

This is also a good point. While i like the idea of having the title of this instance make sense (meaning having anything NSFW including gore) I also reckon you have a point in that we have no way of blocking gore by default. But maybe thats where more instances come in? like an instance called LemmyPorn or whatnot? I'm not sure.. its like the wild west out here!

This could be solved by introducing tags/flairs for communities (set by the instance's admin and mandatory for communities) which the users can use to filter the kind of communities they want/do not want to see. Does anyone know if lemmy devs are already planning to do this?

those guys are barely holding servers together atm, it will get worse over the next two days (and maybe longer) before it gets better, but i'm sure theyll get to it eventually. So for now I think we have to make do and just say that this instance is non-gore only, since we cant filter it out.
