Last weeks thread here

Welcome to this week’s casual kōrero thread!

This post will be pinned in this community so you can always find it, and will stay for about a week until replaced by the next one.

It’s for talking about anything that might not justify a full post. For example:

  • Something interesting that happened to you

  • Something humourous that happened to you

  • Something frustrating that happened to you

  • A quick question

  • A request for recommendations

  • Pictures of your pet

  • A picture of a cloud that kind of looks like an elephant

  • Anything else, there are no rules (except the rule)

So how’s it going?

Planted the vege garden over the weekend. Took in some learnings from last year, so here's hoping to a good harvest this year :)

Nice! What are you growing this year?

I converted another area of lawn to soil for planting, so now have even less grass to mow.

We planted a bunch of lettuce, some chilli's, eggplants, cherry tomatoes, zucchinis and a few different herbs.

Oh nice. Sounds like you guys are growing quite a bit of food!

I'm actually doing a little less now. Been focusing on putting a few more small trees and more perennial herbs and veges so I'm not having to replace them every season.

I usually try to grow too many new things each year and sometimes end up not getting a lot of food out of it. I decided to focus on just a few types this year. Also a few more perennial flowers for the pollinators. Oh and not doing any tomatoes this time around has freed a lot of space!

Yeah we've cut down on the number of different types we've planted. Gone for the ones we actually like and the good growers from last year.

We weren't gonna do tomatoes this year either, but then decided to give the grafted ones a go. Fingers crossed 🤞
